Fact is, Dyno numbers are just that. Numbers. There great for tuning. Thats it. Mustang Dino will hurt the dyno number internet racers ego. Removing the acc drive to make some numbers is funny.

Belt drive, driveshaft and axles. I may be wrong, but I have read these are where hp/tq are lost.

Well, then... why not remove them all for higher numbers?

That's what they make an engine dyno for guys

We ran engines on the DTS all the time, usually just turning the water pump. No accessories.

You could hook them all up if you wanted,,,,but why??? It's enough work just to get the engine in the cell and plumbed, let alone bring along all the crap that goes on the car too.
In that case,,,that's what a chassis dyno is for......

They are nothing but tuning tools....period. And they only get you close....still some fine tuning to do,,,,especially if using an engine dyno. Once it's in the car things change, no more controlled conditions inside a cell, you are turning accessories, transmission and driveline, and all these loads will play havic with the tune.
An engine in the dyno cell that liked 38 degrees of timing might not be so happy in a car with a load of accessories and ambient temps are 100 degrees.

    I was kidding

I too have had my fun time with a engine dino. I was told I was allowed to spin the 454 to 7000 RPM. It had been around for awhile and they were ready to upgrade/replace. That was an unbelievable awesome sound hearing that thing open headers screaming.

My ls1 dynoed at 342/355 with long tubes, 3600 stall and dual exaust.. ran a 12.1... so I don't think it would be a HUGE stretch.. there are freaks out there that could take well to mods....
