Also it might fit better without the ram air lower box then with it...also its meant to fit more then just the SLP lid and stock TB. I'm way more ticked off about the cheap plastic the lid is made of. those tabs bend way too easy.
I think that they might use cheaper plastic now because I have had my lid since like 04 and it is way better quality than my friends lid that he just got a few months ago. Mine fits great with no issues and the tabs seem pretty sturdy but my friends doesnt seen to fit nearly as well and the tabs flex like you said... weird, I guess they have gotten pretty cheap since back in the day.

Almost certainly they have outsourced the manufacturing of the product to China. Anything plastic nowadays comes from China. I won't turn this thread political by ranting about 'American' businesses sending all their business to a country with no labor saftety regulations, no environmental regulations, no product safety regulations (ie lead and cadmium). And gee we wonder why their goods are cheaper...

But anyway, yeah that's probably why you see a noticeable difference in product quality between yours and his.

I've been pondering going the Volant route. Take the lid out of the equation altogether. But of course, I've read where some folks have had fitment issues with those as well...

its a loose loose all around when it comes to the fitment of anything involving the lid/bellow

I had my SLP lid with the accordian bellow and stock TB and it fit damn good, switched to the FAST 92/92 and violant couldn't get the damn violant to sit right at all, went back to the lid and SLP bellow and that damn bellow took a good hr of trimming to fit properly

be careful with the ftp lid as well, ive seen many of them crack on the top just from engine/body flex... Im starting to think that the only "lid" that fits 100% is the black wing

I bought my SLP Blackwing lid in 04 I think. It doesn't want to seat all the way down. I have to push on it hard to get the tabs to go into their slots. Once I get it in, it stays, but it could fit a lot better.

When I had the SLP MAF and SLP bellows on it, it wouldn't latch down at all so I went back to all OEM set-up, other than the lid.

Sounds like the only lid that fits well and is made of stiff, study plastic is the OEM one...

X1,000,000....I was going to post this very thing. In general, with my experience, anything "aftermarket" does never fit "the same" as an OEM part. Some manufacturers do a better job at engineering/designing the product to fit within acceptable limits, but nothing fits quite as nice as OEM.

Volant takes a little work but once you do a little heat gun work and trimming it's great after that. Never had anything but a stock lid so can't say how they fit but whatever breand my frioend has on his Z28 a pain in the as compared to my Volant once it was trimmed a bit.
