    The Beast is Stirring

I bought my 2002 WS6 brand new almost 9 years ago. For the first 5 years it was a pure stock daily driver and was a blast to drive each and every day. Then along came the kids and with them, a more practical daily driver that caused the bird to end up sitting in my garage, hardly getting noticed for the past few years.

After contemplating selling it more times than I count, the wife and I decided that we are going to keep the bird, and with that invest a little $$$ to breathe some new life into her.

    The following are some of the pieces of that project that are currenly being ordered;

    • Dual XDVDN9131
    • GMMG Chambered Exhaust
    • AGX Adjustable Shocks
    • C5 Y2K Deep Dish Chrome Wheels - 18X9.5 fr, 18X10.5 r
    • Vredestein Ultra Sessanta Tires - 275/35/18 fr, 295/35/18 r

I'm not looking into the lowering the vehicle or seriously upgrading the performance, just wanting to breathe some new life into her. Think I'm on the right path?

Good decision imo. Post pics of the new stuff once you get it on the car.

Thanks. I've been doing my research and figured this was a decent starting point. The stock stereo is shot, and I've gotten spoiled using the nice NAV system in my Flex, so I wanted something similar. That system has a 7" flip out touchscreen with full NAV and Bluetooth. I've always wanted a custom exhaust, but on a daily driver figured it would be too loud and give me a headache stuck in traffic each day. Now that it's a weekend cruiser, it can get as loud as it wants! The car has 100K on it, and is bottom down from the sandbags I used for traction in the winter, so new shocks were a must. These seemed like they would offer me better than stock performance for a good price. Lastly, the stock wheels have a few dings and dents from many years of abuse, these rims and tires should freshen up the look quite a bit.

I will start a thread showing the before and after and progress pictures for anyone who's interested. Stay tuned.

LOL, no that's the next door neighbours castle, our moat was broken, so I had to turn the camera the other way!

Yea I was gonna ask you guys what to do about that. My old stock WS6 rims, you didn't see that rust. These rims have more of a 'window' and it shows the rust badly.

Anyone had their rotors coated? How do I go about doing that?

I bought mine off Ebay with zinc coating. They have a nice bright silver finish, and will only get a little surface rust on the friction area. After driving a mile, it's gone. Not sure any of our sponsors offer it, so I can't post any links. Some places offer a mail order coating surface, so do some searching for that.

    I don't do snow

That had to be one hell of a WHITE "K" NUCKLE drive for sure!

My Z goes in hibernation by the end of October and doesn't see light till Spring. It sucks to have to wait so long before driving again. But on the other hand its like drivin for the first time again in the spring.

Also interested in the tire grip. I'm gonnaa get rid of my Dunlop Durezza's soon, and was going to get some F1's, but I like the contact patch better on your tires.
