Has anyone ever tried or use a battery relocation kit? If so where would you want to put it if you still need the space to take off the T's?

I've seen people place it in the spare tire tub area as they don't have the spare tire no more...I even saw a setup with the battery there and a N20 bottle too!

Really thought about it. I would like to get rid of that plastic POS and a get a nice billet coolant tank to replace it.

    Questions :
    1. Does it put a strain on the alternator/starter from the long cables?
    2. Does it charge well?
    3. I know there is a grommet in my well but how easily is it routed under the car?

I've seen the installation on some other older cars and it basically is just the positive cable they route along the frame. In our case the subframe. I think i could put it on the driver's side where my disc changer is. Does anyone have it done that have pics or other pos or neg input?

mine is where the spare was no problems with it
I would suggest a bigger battery to be sure you have enough juice

no one has ever done this................... lol

run a thick cable.. like a 0-2 ga...

you can put it in the spare tire area, which is the more common, i did mine where my ttops use to go, i took out the ttop holders while doig weight reduction, plus i have a pretty box..

the battery has to have a box to go in, or a tray... and is bolted down

you need a cutoff switch relays.. etc.. and yes it dos take more to start it, but no big deal

I was in the proccess of doing this install as well as I bought a billet battery holder for my Optima Red Top. I was going to put in the compartment on the drivers side as I have the NOS bottle in the spare tire compartment. My reasoning is as others too, wanting to clean up the engine bay and weight reduction in the front.

Is 02 gauge wire the minimum to use as I seen in some of the kits used they have 01 gauge wire included with the kit? I'll get what ever it take to do the job right though.

either one will work.. i would go any lower than 2 though... some people use 4, but that is not recommended..
