Bad year
I guess that eight years is the "breaking point" for Trans Ams. So far this year I've replaced the water pump, battery, window motors, clutch, and now headlight gears on my '98. All this and I've put less then a 1000 miles on it this summer. Tires are next. I think it's going away early for the winter. I hope next summer is better.

Keep an eye out for your VATS to start acting up. Mine did for the first time this week. I toggled it off with edit but from what I've read that still isn't a guarantee that it's fixed. There's a write up for putting the resistor inline to bypass the vats. I may save that for future reference. At the end of the day these cars are still just machines and there's gonna be things that quit working. I'm sure hard launches don't help many parts to much.
