a big huge part of me wishes I hadn't bought mine when I did. Should have saved up enough could have had a newer/nice/anniv ed or something. Basically-once I started my career out of college, that first paycheck made me think "get a t/a...get a t/a...get a t/a!"

I'm 46 going on 18, ask my wife. When I was 17, I had a small block chevy short block in the next bedroom of our house, on the carpet, which I rebuilt to put into my 70 nova, see the slideshow below. You youngsters have us in numbers, but we all have the memories AND are still making more, catch us if you can

my dad tells me racing stories from the 70's. He had a '69 SS Chevelle with a 396 in it and an auto. He said he raced an identical SS but with a manual, but he couldn't shift as well as the auto so my dad won. always fun hearing stories like that.

11 or so years ago, across the nation gas was going for 60-75 cents per gallon! I drove my 428 powered '67 GTO from Indy to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Put in 17 or so gallons every 180 miles! Raced (almost beat) a 454 70? Chevelle somewhere in Alabama on the way. Great memories.

Funny thing, my first job @ a Mobile station in 1977 where I used to work and for what was called FULL SERVICE, customers paid like $.68 cents a gallon for premium which included checking the oil, cleaning the windows and even checking all four tires for correct air pressure if they asked! Some cheap SOB's would even ask you to check their boiling hot radiator too!!!

BTW-The mechanic that worked there at the time had the badest black s/e 1977 Trans Am, I have till this day, ever seen, in those days wide rear tires meant 50 series which were like 14-16" WIDE!! And 70 series up front, he had chrome 5 spokes like cragars, the car had headers and a nice cam with a great lope....needless to say he had the finest girlfreind I had ever seen at the time, WoW, she would still be considered HOT by today's standards too. That car was FINE!!!
Maybe thats were all this started for me....???

I'm 20, and I never wanna get rid of mine!!! Most of the people in my area are older dudes and it looks as if they only drive their cars once a year. I hardly ever see another f-body other than mine. A lot of porsche, some ferrari, bmw, mercedes, that kind of crap...oh and some vette's too. Alot of people around here will just stick their nose up at you because your car didn't cost 80 grand.
