Manuals are slightly faster, but it's all driver. Autos are just smash and go. I'm sure some people who drive autos will argue, but it takes much more talent to properly drive/race a manual. Burnouts like staging? Or burnouts like your 16years old?

I love burn outs and im older than 16, my dad does burn outs and hes 50.

My opinion is autos stock are slower and not that fun. Built autos are all buisness, they are the fastest way to go for a striaght line drag car. Manual is faster than a stock auto with a good driver shifting gears. Manual is just more all around fun for street use.

depends on the application ... my TA is a stick and it's a ton of fun to drive, to burn out, only "raced" it on the 1/4 mile on the dyno ... it doesn't hook up that well though (again, depends on application). the Z28 we're building in class is an auto and that thing is fantastic on the 1/4, never done a burnout in it, it does spin up til 2nd gear tho ... to me though, an automatic is no fun on the streets. it all depends on what you're using it for!

as far as racing applisations, a stalled auto is easyier on your 10bolt rear end than the six speed, when you swap your 10 bolt for a 12, its all about what you prefer

and for reliablitly, the auto MIGHT have more problems, but it comes down to how well it was taken care of fluidchanged, etc. got a friend who has no reverse 5th or 6th in his standard, while my pampered auto glides so smooth (i have way more milage than he does too)

A stalled auto and sticky tires will still destroy a 10 bolt. And with gears even more

They both have their place its just preference. My T/A is auto but I want to buy another f-body thats a manual just so I can have both. Auto's are more consistant but manuals will put a grin on your face faster/longer if you can shift good.

another plus for autos.. if your riding with your girl, she'll appriciate that you can put your arm around her rather than using it to play with your stick the whole time...

I was anti-automatic until I first test drove our Trans Am. Never would have considered buying a muscle car without a stick and three pedals.

One drive though and I found the car to have a high fun factor -- drop the hammer and hang on. After a year, we are both quite happy with the car.
