Am I out of my mind?

Alright guys. I'm going to throw a lot out at ya so here goes. My plans are to run a true dual with x-pipe system all the way out the back of the car. I want to have the x-pipe occur directly above the tunnel brace on a tunnel braced torque arm WITH driveshaft loop. What are my chances of getting this done without the torque arm, exhaust, or both banging the bottom of my car to the point I wish I had never done this? Have any of you ever seen someone try to do this or do you think it'd work?

And if you don't think it'd work, do you really see enough advantage of running an aftermarket tunnel braced torque arm?

    Thanks again all!!!

    That would never happen.

Its definitely been done even as straight trueduals. Notice how the above brace has a cut out part for extra room.

    This one below does not....

IIRC, there is a true dual setup available for F-Bodies. I read an article in GMHTP a few months ago about an owner of a black WS6 who built up his own 427 stroker(?) and had the true dual setup. I think both pipes run parallel under the torque arm/driveshaft, over the rear axle, and into two mufflers that sit horizontally beneath one another and each tailpipe exits out the stock location. Can't remember the month of the issue of GMHTP. Was a good article.

    Damn that thing is dirty!

The thing about doing under the axle is that its really cheap and easy but it kills the ground clearance.

Ya. I was looking at all the pics and was wondering what would happen if the cars were hoisted in the air with a normal lift with the weight off the axles? would the rear axle hit and bend the piping? I know SOMEONE has this setup but with the pipes routing OVER the rear axle? To try and keep the stock ground clearance. OR, go with bullet mufflers? There HAS to be a maniacal genius with these answers.

See, your setup is more doable. Piping follows parallel. Do you have over the rear axle, or under?

Makes me wonder WHY the F-Bodies never came with that setup in the first place.

Yes, the rear would hit the exhaust if its ran too close to it. It would have to be done on a 4pt lift with no load on the rear which would kill the ground clearance. The other option would be to chain up the rear so it doesnt travel down and hit the pipes.
