Yeah my hawk is a 2000 and came with the regular TA lid. I swapped it out with an SLP lid. use a hairdryer to heat the plastic so you can get it over the mass air meter. the Fernco coupling from home depot works but it just barely works lol. I have no idea how mine continues to hang on. I'm always paranoid that it will come off and let stuff into the engine yet every time i check it's still holding on.

Reason is that the smooth coupling from home depot is straight and there is a slight difference in height from the mass air to the TB. But it works so whatever lol. can't argue for 6 bucks vs 60 for the same thing.

I'm not to big of a fan of that style intake, I'm just switching to the SLP to make the engine bay look a little cleaner, not for possible hp gains. I don't race it, so really no point in going to overboard with things like that. I think the factory airlid looks like crap, and really like the look of the SLP lid.

nope, just like a lid, your either going to need a coupler to upsize, run stock, or speed density tune

I ran into a problem... The new lid came today and I got everything torn apart, then realized I don't own a hairdryer... I've tried by hand to get the MAF on the new lid, but I'm worried about trying to hard and breaking something. Any ideas on how to attach them together with no heat?

I do, I'll use that as a last resort, called a few people in hopes of borrowing a hair dryer.

preheat oven to lowest temp. fold up a wet towel and place the lid on the towel and in the oven for 10 minutes.
Ok so I've never tried this, however I have heard of it for softening up headlights/taillights so you can remove the lens. might work for a lid also. But becareful!

Will a WS6 air lid base fit with a stock (Non-WS6) hood?

isnt the slp lid that came with the firehawks different from the aftermarket ones anyway? the aftermarket is a one piece instead of two with a smoother transition to the tb that doesnt have that oval part like the one from factory

Correct. The OEM lids were SLP Blackwing lids which are two pieces. The neck is a separate rubber piece. The newer styled SLP lids are one-piece.
