Blue- 2001 Formula Firehawk
Airlid?
I've been thinking of picking up a SLP lid or some kind of lid to clean up the enigine bay a bit and was wondering if any mods need to be done for it to fit on a Firehawk, since the hood doesn't seem to have the clearence the WS6 hood has. Also is there anyplace in Colorado that sells them, so I can test fit it, rather then having to deal with mail order and pray for no problems?

No issues in clearance, they will even fit on a stock, non-ws6 hood. I believe it was the Camaros that had some problems with clearance. (<<Don't hold me to this)

Already have it?
Do you have a firehawk? If so you should already have an SLP lid. As delivered they have the SLP embossed on the lid and the engine emissions sticker on the lid.

I do have a Firehawk, but it has a regular lid on it, but none of the pins it should have holding it on, so I'm guessing it was removed before I bought it.

you sure you have a true firehawk? they come with lids from the factory, and idk why anyone would ever downgrade?

If it's not I will have some serious problems with the dealership I bought it from, since I paid for a 2001 Firehawk. I have been trying to fix all the problems the previous owner caused, I don't think they were the brightest crayon in the box...

No problem
OK, if you don't have the original lid switching to an SLP or one of the others won't be a problem. On a WS6 the base is actually taller than the stock or SLP base but the lids are the same.
You will probably also want to consider adding the other mods loke attaching the metal chute to the bottom of the air cleaner box and a smooth bellows. These parts comes with the SLP aftermarket system and a couple of other systems. Definitely ask around. I personally like the SLP but it is a bit pricy and does the same thing as other lid systems that cost less. Of course if you want your Firehawk to look stock SLP is what you want!

Thanks for the info, just ordered the lid and got a number to call tomorrow, now that you have me worried that I got scammed by a dealership.

You're right!
Just backchecked and you are right, 2001s had the standard lid. OK, so definitely a good time to upgrade!

Yeah, thanks for all the info guys! I'm not as worried now, but I can be a bit of a dumbass with things so still gonna call to get the build number tomorrow, just to be sure. I'm trying to clean up the engine bay, out of boredom while it sits in the garage for the winter and that was the first thing I can think of to clean it up.

Don't buy the SLP smooth bellows!!!
Make your own from Home Depot for under $10; don't spent $60+....IMO of course. Or leave the accordian style bellows as-is.
