    Air Conditioning Took A Crap!

So my air quit working, the compressor started making weird noises like crunching noises so I took my car to a shop and they said that i have metal shaving in my compressor and lines, so long story short, I need to spend 1,200 dollars on a new system. Now even when i try and turn my A/C on my clutch for A/C doesnt engage. Any of you guys want to help me out here and sell me a compressor/ whole system because i know alot of you delete the A/C for HP increase and for the fact that you really dont need it. Thanks

You can buy a compressor for a lot less than that. You'll have to flush out the whole system to ensure that no metal shavings remain or you'll simply trash the replacement.

Had this happen to me on my 96 FB.

I had to get a new compressor, dryer, inline filter, 2 ac hoses, and had to have the core flushed.

I removed all the components except the core, had a shop do a flush for me, drove back home and installed all the new stuff.

I had the shop vacuum any moisture and fill it. Only reason why is because after getting all new parts I didn't want them going to shit because of a moisture build up.

For those that don't know why moisture in the system is very bad this is why - H20 when it gets colder it turns into a liquid first then freezes to ice, all while expanding. H2O doesn't condense as it cools it expands.

After all was done I saved about $600-$700 10 yrs ago. back them they wanted about $1500 to do it all.

It's not hard to do, only PITA was going back and forth to get the system flushed then serviced.
