    Advise/opinions needed

Tonight im taking my car to the track for the first time. Never ran on a track before so im kind of nervous but excited. Im hoping for some advise so i dont look like an idiot infront of everyone. Main worry is launch, i dont want to spin down the track so any adice? Or better yet any advise for at all for a first timer?

Also granted a good run what times should I expect, car is 02 ws6/m6, long tube headers, lid, 3" catback with cat delete, short throw shifter.

Im hoping mid low 13's but what is realistic to expect?

First time...expect to be real slow.

Launch - try around 2500RPM and "feather" out the clutch, don't dump it or you'll stall.

Drive AROUND the water box if you are running street tires.

There is a sticky on this in the drag racing section.

Do not drive right up to the tree,I see newbs do it all the time.

There is a staging box with two holes in it at the bottom, when your front tire is at the first one the top yellow staging bulb will come on.

Roll ahead another inch or two and light the second bulb, now get ready because when the other car is staged the starter will start the tree.

    Leave on the last yellow.

Most of all respect the track workers running the tech area, the staging lanes, the water box and the starter, follow all their directions.

Most Most of all don't be too serious, your there to have fun and drive your car the way it was intended.

its all about trial and error as every car and driver combo is different, you will have to try different things to find out what works best for you and the car. so how did you do?

as long as you don't wreck, you won't look like an idiot.

as said, it's trial and error. just go out, be safe, have fun and do your best not to break anything.

Sounds like you did well and probably maybe cussed those few times you missed third

Just be careful and try not to bounce the rev limiter on those missed shifts or otherwise you could end up with some bent push rods.

Keep practicing with it and have fun!!
