87 Firebird not getting gas to engine.

My car is not getting gas to the engine. Supposedly the fuel lines were already replaced. We just replaced the fuel pump relay and checked to make sure that the fuel pump is getting power. We checked the filter. So now we dont know what to do. We know its not getting gas because when we spray starter fluid in the intake it starts for a few seconds and then dies. Any ideas?

Check your fuel presure at the fuel rail,, sounds like a dead fuel pump..

You'll be looking for a minimum of ~40 psi @ the rail.

If your fuel pump checks out good, then you may have a fuel presure regulator issue..

Sure sounds like a dead fuel pump. Check for power at the pump, there will be a 2 second 12 volt signal when you first turn on the key. Then that goes away if the engine doesn't start/crank. Be sure the ground is good also. If all that checks out (99% it will, unless someone has been in there before), your pump is dead. Time for a new fuel filter with the new pump.
