4th Generation Hardtop T/A's?
im not by any chance a 4th generation f body guru as of yet,but im getting there LoL! i said that to say this i've noticed that they're far more T Top T/A's (im not counting the cars that have been converted to t top coupes) riding around than hardtop ones,my question is did any of the T/A's at one point & time come from the factory with the gloss black sail panel & gloss black hardtop like the Camaros? if the answer is no can you guys post pics of T/A's with custom black sail panels & black hardtops the year doesn't matter thanx

sold: 1999 firebird- 1998 Trans Am
statistically 2 LS1 Trans Ams were made with a hardtop. so really you will never see one.
2002 35th CETA cars got the black sail panel from the factory, just like Z28 Camaros did, but of course, all of them are t-top cars.

this gives you the statistics of all 4th generation Trans AM's that were produced looks like there is a little more than 2 hard top T/A's..I saw 2 in one day on autotrader a few years back but never pursued them because I wanted t-tops, I've seen a few hard top camaros as well

sold: 1999 firebird- 1998 Trans Am
using your source:
in 1998, 12408 Y82 (Trans Am) coupes were produced, 12406 had the CC1 or DE4 option for t-tops.
1998 was an odd year, several quirky and rare birds were produced early on in the production year. such as the two hardtop T/As and two Convertible formulas.
LT1 Trans Ams could be had without t-tops.
with the exception of two, LS1s could not.
edit: just like the LT1 T/As, both LT1 or LS1, Z28 or SS Camaros could be had as a hardtop.Last edited by justinmc978; 02-03-2011 at 07:33 AM.

In the Trans AM yes your right, I was refering to formulas too (probably should of specified) there is a total of 629 were hard tops.
Formula W66
2200 produced
1610 of those were t-tops
Formula WS6 option
244 produced
205 T-tops

Black- 1998 Trans Am WS6 'Vert
The 2 '98 HT T/As, I believe, were early production "mules", prototypes or press cars. Once the '98 production was under way, T-tops were standard equipment on T/As from then on.
Similarly for the 2 '98 Formula 'verts. The story I heard (which may just be speculation) was that they were built to fulfill an order placed before the end of the '97 MY that for some reason wasn't filled. So the dealer that ordered them got '98s instead. But again, once the '98 production was under way, Formulas were no longer available as a 'vert.Last edited by JohnnyBs98WS6Rag; 02-03-2011 at 08:07 AM.

Green- 95' Trans Am
I have a 95 Hard top and I'm guessing these are pretty rare too? Haven't seen many around where I live. Do you guys think this actually add's value to the car or lessens it?

local guy had a hardtop ws6 formula. I *believe* it was a '00 but don't quote me on that. Would be a cool car to own as they're pretty rare.

- 99 Formula
I hate it how gm made the t tops standard on the trans am , i hate t tops so much i bought a ram air 99 formula hardtop 6 speed. I just cant stand how the black roof breaks up the color of the vehicle . Now if gm offered fiberglass t tops that were painted body color i could deal with that .
