I ran against these engines back in the late 70's in my 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with a hot 440 Magnum. Those Catalina's were big and heavy but with that multi carb'ed 421 mill they would do high 12's all day long. Most of the SD Cat's had 4 speed's and my Charger had the super reliable and consistent Fairbanks built A727 TorqueFlite trans so I won more then I lost in heavy eliminator class at E-Town. I had great respect for those big Poncho mills, if they had a decent 3 speed auto trans they would have dominated the heavy class.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k
