    306 Mustang vs LS1 TA

    This kid i knew had a 88 stang and he put a 306 motor in it. I didn't have my license at the time and never drove it. I'm curious which would be more powerful. The mods that i know of are tranny, clutch, flywheel, rearend(i think), maybe gears, Lt's, no cats, no smog pump, gt 40 intake manifold, upper and lower plenum, cold air intake. That's pretty much it as far as i know. This dipshit claimed it had 550HP! I highly doubt it cuz he had stock heads & cam. It was also a five speed too. How do you think it would line up against my TA? (mods in sig)

    depends on how that motor was built. also gears play into a race.
    you say he did a motor then you go on to say he has stock heads and cam, that doesnt make any sense.

    All he said was that his heads were ported and polished. I also didn't mention that he was prally the most mentally retarded and disturbed person i know...

    That doesn't mean he won't be able to beat you though if he built it right.

    With that stuff ill say 290-320hp it sounds like one of my buddies set-up..But hp means nothing torque is everything in drag raceing

    I agree, if he put a 306 in it how are the heads and cam stock or are you saying he put the stock heads and cam to the 306 he put in it? If they are ported they are not stock. Either way it still doesnt make much sense, if he used stock heads and cam from stock motor then whats the point? Then again perhaps he will do heads and cam later.
