    2002 trunk leak

Is there a common problem with water in the trunk on these models. The seals around the hatch seem to be fine.

From what I remember reading on here, it does not seem to be a common problem. I think members have commented before about water infiltration occuring when their cars were parked on a downhill. I believe there are bumpstops for the hatch that can be adjusted to tighten the seal, but you have to pay attention to panel alignment. It's easy to do a water test -- crawl back there with a flashlight and have a friend hose down the back of the car while you watch for a leak. Only other possibilities would be the spoiler mounts or the seam between the glass and deck lid.

I helped a friend with his trunk leak, something that only occurred when he washed it, as it isn't a DD.

Are you finding a puddle of water in the bottom of the trunk? That was his issue.

We took out most of the trim pieces and carpet in the rear, then I laid in the trunk while he sprayed water at all directions around the rear end of the car. We found it to be coming in near the panel gaps/seams of the rear quarters. Bought some black RTV silicone and traced all the seams on both sides of the quarter panels. Let it sit for a day to air out, put her back together and he hasn't had an issue since.

I've never had a problem with it. And I asked my buds if they had. They have'nt had that problem either. Sorry John.
