    Question 1998 WS6, Formula Convertible???

I didn't think the Formula was made in 1998 in a convertible incarnation, let alone with the WS6 package??? But according to the link below 2 1998 WS6 Formula convertibles exist...anybody know if there's any truth to this? I'll add a link when I get 5 posts.

I found the link on an ebay auction and was suprised at first to see the lister posted that 221 WS6 Formulas were built in 1998 -- I had always been told 223 were built and none were convertibles.

it's not a formy. It's got a T/A front bumper. I know they made em, but they're rare. The verts had the formy rear, no spoiler.

I'm pretty sure the last year you could order a Formula 'vert was '97. There WERE two '98 Formula 'verts built w/ WS6 option (both red, one w/ black top, one w/ white top, one 6M, the other A4). However, my understanding was that they were "special order" for a dealership in Kansas very early in the production run (Formula 'verts was not a combo made available to the general public after '97). Not sure what happened to them or where they are today.

what is the significance in "6M and A4"? is it some kind of upgrade on the motor or is it cosmetic?

the car in the auction is a 2000 body, the drivetrain is out of a 2002, they changed it over from an automatic to a manual tranny.

Lt1??? I hope that's just a wierd type...because I recall seeing several Pontiac magazines where people took pre-98 forumula convertibles and putting post 98 front ends on them way back when.

Assuming that "LT1" IS a typo and this car REALLY IS one of those 2 (the missing "Ram Air" decals on the hood are also a concern there, but if this was a WAY early build for test it might have come w/o them....... the car DOES still have the SOTL exhaust though!!), the great mystery of which car (M6 or A4) had which color top has now been SOLVED! I would've lost the bet on that one.

I think I read somewhere that one of the cars got crushed and the other I heard was owned by a guy in Mass. He was on the Formula Source for a little while.
