Here's the part that made me cry:

What an experience it was taking command of its 5.0 V-8 with a four-barrel carb, four-speed automatic transmission, and 2.73 gears. It was nothing less than perfect. It was loaded with all the options (even factory louvers).

Tuned-port injection was offered from '85 and up.

Oh well. Like a man with a fat wife, I guess he's happy. But I'd prefer to see a nicely preserved performance model.

The article said he traded in an '82 Trans Am SE. I believe the performance of an '82 would directly mirror that of an '86 carbed w/2.73 gears.
