The "K" Code engine is actually an Oldsmobile 403ci rated at 185 hp. The optional "X" motor was a Pontiac 400ci rated at 220 hp.

Yep, all Olds "6.6 Litre" cars had automatics, you could get a 4-speed only w/ the Pontiac "T/A 6.6" engine (sorry California, no 4-spds for you).

I always dig the 2nd gens, they came the closest of any American car to the profile of the classic Jag XKEs (long hood, fastback, short trunk). I still miss my '76 455 4-spd. Not the fastest stock, but it had all the right ingredients to be bad ass.

Good to see you getting into it. I have to laugh at my first post in this thread -- a few months ago we pulled the trigger on a '70 Camaro so my wish for a second gen has been fulfilled.
