Trans Am new on April 17, 1971, the words "classic," "rarity," and "frame-off restoration," weren't part of his mindset. In fact, the only word that came to his mind was "awesome."

Just a few days ago on the way home from work, I saw what looked like a blue 2nd-gen f-bod ahead of me. Once I finally caught a glimpse of the flat rear window, narrow tail-lights and white stripe down the spoiler, I knew exactly what it was. Wishing I was in my T/A instead of my truck, I drove around traffic to catch up and pull along side just to give the driver a big thumbs-up, which was greeted w/ a big smile. This was a very clean '71 Lucerne Blue / White Stripe 455-HO T/A. If I ever buy another old car from the muscle era, it's going to be a 455 T/A. This article makes me regret selling my '76 455 T/A.

This is the part that makes this a true love (Trans Am) story for me:

"My wife said to me, 'We've got four little kids. That's not the car for us.' But when we saw a more family-friendly T/A at McNamara Pontiac in Orlando, she said, 'I like the white one with the blue stripe, automatic, and A/C. You can buy it.'"
