Seafoam is a solvent. Yes it will clean your combustion chambers, but I would rather go with something less harsh. I have never utilized Seafoam on any of our cars, nor do I intend to.

I built my entire car before adding power/boost. It's the smart way to build a car Wasn't exactly the fun way though lol. Sure, you can change/build a rear-end, drive shaft, transmission, etc once it breaks....but I'd rather not have things break leaving me stranded somewhere, or worse, injuring myself or the car. Ever see a rear-end or driveshaft implode at the track? It's not anything I ever want to experience...and hopefully I've upgraded everything needed to keep it that way. 5+ years now and so far so good....fingers crossed.

I did the same as Jon - built up the chassis, suspension, transmission and replaced all the weak links first. I am at the point now where I can start adding power without any worries as to what might break first.

What do you think about isopropyl/water 50/50?

I Seafoamed (spray) at about 90k, it definately felt better afterwards.

I was thinking about putting a bit of Seafoam in through the spark plug tube and letting it soak for about an hour or so, cranking the engine for a turn or three, to blow the Seafoam out the tubes ,then put the plugs back in and drive it till it gets it iut of the system, on the way to get the oil changed.

I am not sure if alcohol has any effect on carbon buildup or not.

I know guys in the late 70's and early 80's would use a 50/50 alchohol/water injection mix in (non-turbo) rotaries to keep detonation down, but also kept the internals spotless.

Yup, done that. Going for 3rd gear and moving at a good clip, something let loose in the rear on the upshift, the pinion snapped and shoved the driveshaft forward which in turn broke the tail of the transmission off and then sprayed the track with tranny fluid. Got on the back tires and nearly put it in the wall.

Was an expensive lesson in parts, and could have been even worse if the car got wadded up.

Good luck on going faster we try to beat our previous years time every year but if your out bracket racing running the same number every time is the car to have! I've seen some 18-19 second cars go a few rounds. We run in the 11.5's and I do like to chase down the slower ones. Just take her out and have fun with it!!

Sorry for the delay.... My race track has decided to pull the entire track up and replace it now... Not sure how long it will be out of commision :-(
You would think they would do that during the winter months.

We'll be just a couple of hours up the road running on the 18th at Beaver Springs.

Out there you are already starting to get into the winter months. I know when I lived out there the tracks pretty much shut down by the end of October. By then it gets too cold to do any pavement work. So I can see why they want to do it now rather than delay opening back up in the spring.

Couple hours isn't far, I'd hook up with Jeff if I were you, and have a good time.

We keep spare helmets at the Beaver house just for such an occasion.

What ET requires a helmet? My normal track is sub 14.00
Is that a "standard"? Or left up to each tracks discretion?

I pretty sure that's a standard just about everywhere. I know at Pittsburgh & Beaver Springs you can't carry a rider under 13.99. I'm planning on taking my daughter for a good 1/8 mile hit and coast it home so she can feel a good pass. That will be in preparation for the serious hit in paJeff's Monty!

Of course, I am so inexperienced at drag racing with a manual at the track, that I may never need one
