I know.. I sold 2 of 'em at the dealership... you couldn't give one to me unless you threw in an F-body for free!

Ok I set up a race with a 06 6spd LS2 GTO. We raced prolly 10 times from all the differnt rolls and in the 1/4 mile. The cars are dead even through 3rd gear from a 20 mph roll , but the gto started to get away slightly from me in 4th gear. we stopped at 150 mph and I was down roughly 1 car and may half. My car is a 2000 firehawk 6 spd that dynoed 320 rwhp 335 tq stock and thats how i ran him. My best at the track is 12.9@ 109 mph. From the 1/4 dead dig races I beat him by 2 to 3 cars due to the fact i was launching better. So then we went from 10 to the end of 3rd gear which is a quater mile. and I was ahead by a car because when we took off the weight of the fbody makes a diff from the punch. Cars are very close but driver is the answer to who will win in most cases. My car runs strong for a LS1 CAR so i would say the LS2 gto would be faster in most cases. For whoever said the 04 would win also, thats really not the case. The 04's make same power and weigh at least 300 pounds more.

last month, I had bought my new 06 GTO (traded the 05, got alot better deal, and I hated the cyclone grey) anyways I took it to the track after 500 miles and it was completely stock and ran a 13.9@103mph. with a 2.21 60' and this is at 5500ft. the correction factor is .9 second, so at sea level it SHOULD run around 13 flat, and this is with the stock POS shifter(it really is horrible) the think about GTOs is they have an IRS which makes it difficult to launch hard without getting alot of wheel hop, tell your dad to soft pedal it for about 25-30ft, and then punch it, and get the torque management removed, it'll take it down another .1 or so.

the G.T.O weighs in at just above 3700 LBS. (like 3740) and racing ALWAYS depends on the drivers, with 75-100 hp. more I think it's more less a drivers race if both are stock JMPO

I believe it is 162 top speed for the 02 ws6.

I would think it really depends on the car....
Some T/As run fast and some GTOs do too I would imagine. I've beaten a couple GTOs.... don't know year etc... but my 01 TA runs 12.8s @ 113mph
Just depends on the individuals power to weight ratio IMO...
Stock for stock I would think the TA is always faster no matter the GTO year... the guy that originated this post proved it.

im gunna hafta dissagree on that one.. the day wasnt that great.. all the cars werent running what they were sapposed to, the gto is flat out slow, when you see the times the cars are sapposed to run in a 1/4 mile all those times are in best conditions. i was only .3 off of what my car sapposably does.i know my pops can drive cause when he had his 04, he was running better times then people with the 05's were. im pritty sure you dont get a perfect launch the first race out either lol.. my first time at the track to so next time im looking for a lower time..

i still dont see how people claim the gto is faster in the 1/4 when factory specs even say they run a whoopin 13.7....people just cant accept the fact the ws6 can smoke it any day of the week

Sorry my reply was at work and i had to go when the boss man came around. Didn't mean to come off so harsh. I thought you said the gto was a 06 not 04 which is good times for a ls1 car. I have been to the track several times since i bought my car new in 2001. Bone stock to the fliter on firehawk sz50's i ran 12.9 @ 108 with a 1.95 60' and since then have put a slp airbox and bfg drag raidals and went 12.69 @110. Prolly have had 40 passes on the car in 5 odd years. You're exactly right on the whole first itme at track thing. You do improve the more you race at the track as did I. I'm sure both youre times will improve and wish you luck.Btw was it really warm when you guys were racing cause you MPH are somewhat low.

in thought LS2 GTOs were badass untill i had some track experience last saturday and beat GTOs times with my bone stock 06 stang GT and i say trans am vs GTO is driver race but my mone is on trans am!!!! they are not that fast cars.. or people cant drive them.. he was getting the same 60' as me and running 14s.. 2.1- 2.2 60' and runs 14s and he got 2.0 60' and his best was 13.8@100 mph and my best was 13.6@94.XX mph

edit: my post is about from a dig race. on the street or track! i have never seen or raced against a LS2 GTO from a roll!

the gto i was talking about is an 06, but the one he had prior to this was the 04. but you know how some cars are made a lil slower some times and then theres always those fast running cars. shoulda looked for a firehawk.
