My parents helped me out. I was 17 when I got mine. They loaned me the money basically. I had 2 grand I gave them, they gave me 4 grand, and then loaned me another 6,000. My car had 45K miles on it and I got it for $12,000. It's under my dad's name so my insurance is $280 every 6 months.

Regarding financing, most of the banks and local credit unions are tightening up their lending standards a bit. That being said, there are still firms out there that are trying to take advantage of opportunities in the lending world.

If you have a good credit rating and a decent stream of (documented) monthly income, check out LendingTree.com. Once you complete the application, if you meet the various banks' standards, you will receive a number of pre-approval notifications. The notification will tell you precisely what you're approved for (amount, interest rate, criteria regarding age and condition of the car, etc.). Some of the lenders will come in pretty high, however you might might a competitive rate that meets your criteria.

I went the LendingTree route and got a ton of offers. I ended up going with Capital One auto finance -- at the time they had the lowest rate and they basically gave me a blank check for my car purchase (provided my vehicle met certain criteria).

I couldn't find my car so I went thru a car broker and they found the only one in the bay area. At the time I finally made my decision to get a camaro it was the last year and month that the camaro's were being produced. I thought the car broker was trying to charm me with the last one in the bay area so I did research. While researching at 2 wellknown 5 star dealers my broker calls and says, ''Ryan, do you want this car or what? You already spoke with two dealers already, rite?'' I was in shock I didn't get to ask him how he knew but I just listened to what I had to do to get this car.

I ended up get my car under my moms name and credit. She had perfect credit and we got it with a 0 down and 0% APR for as long we pay it off. Now it is paid off and have the pink in my name. I tell you I have surprised myself looking back and dealing with my monthly for this car but I can say this car is priceless.

Cause i want one and i need the blueprints to getting one!!
    Tell me yah story please
    how did u get it
was 18 when i got mine...put down 5k and financed the rest. If u dont have the cash up front you will want to have a good credit score in order to get approved for ur loan. You will also want to factor into your budget cost of insurance, gas, maint., and mods if you plan on going that route.

Went in to the credit union and had my grandma co-sign for me. Put her name first to get a lower interest rate. Got the car for 10.5k... I pay 240.70 a month plus gas and tickets... Parents pay insurance.

I paid 8500$ for my TA with 100,000 miles, but I paid it in full. We have an 05 Trailblazer now and our payments are only 151$ a month plus full coverage.
