I gotcha.. It is so far the worst that I've had personally.. I'm sure that varies somewhat from owner to owner.. My 95 Camaro was of a less than steller construction as well tho..

So well engineered that they thought it wise to not put a single grease fitting on the car..( ) Could'nt even use the right glue on the things..

I'm not talkin' a DD either here. It gets stored in winter and we don't beat on it (only over 80 maybe 5 times in 5 years)..

The workmanship is just fungin' amaging to top it off! Night and day difference in build quality from my nearly 20 year old Chevy and my 01.. I've never had any of the problems with my z34 as I have with my Camaro (both cars fully loaded).... My z34 also has a FAR more complex stock engine setup as well..
Wow lots of hate there. My car has almost 100k now, it's been the easiest car I've ever had getting it there. Still has OE brakes on the front! And I do drive it hard a lot.

You think geting 200 HP out of 3.8l is great? That's what makes that engine so good? Granted, a 3.8 can be built, but only 200 stock? And I love my M6, no problems whatsoever with that. My non-greasable front end parts are still good, my sealed front wheel bearings are still good, old school designs with grease fittings used to fail all the time, I've made much money on GM ball joints/tie rods/center links/tapered wheel bearings/etc that had those zerks, and those usually failed by 75k.

My paint still has a shine almost like new, I had to get a piece repainted last year and the painter remarked how nice the OE was holding up, I can't tell where the new stuff is and the OE stops. Try that on a 10 year old 1990 GM product.

    Back on subject,
YKYDAC when you feel the need to drive it sideways on those country roads that have a 90* turn, and the sign advises 15 MPH.

I'm not getting the 3.8 questions??? but anyways.. Consumer reports once listed the 01 Camaro as a, "do not buy".. I can see why tho I'll never get rid of her.. I never said I hated the car just the workmen/craftsmenship leaves many things to be desired.. I used to have very ittle trouble with things too.. However over the years the car has nickle and dimed me which is pretty cheesy when you consider the car is stored for winters.. If you're not having any troubles @ all, you're lucky.. As 4-time f-body owner myself, trust me you're lucky.. Oh and buy da way my cars are prolly better taken care of than yours.. The simple fact is it does'nt stack up to my nearly 20 year old z34 especially in the paint and built quality department....No paint falling off or bubbling like f-body suffers from.. It's quite frankly, twice the car and was more expensive new, than a new loaded v6 4th gen camaro.. early 3800 had to have a super charger to make lq1 power and later when the 200 horse n/a 3800 was released it still had/has less hp than the smaller lq1. But again comparing the top of the line lq1 to a slow reving all iron ohv v6 is like mixing apples and oranges.. The 3800 has a vast after market tho which places it amoung the best as well, stock for stock the lq1 is the better engine just speaking from experiance with both. No offense in any of this..

oh and when it comes to a power arguement....if you rate the LS1 at 325 hp, thats 57 hp per liter, and if you rate the 3800 at 215 hp, thats 56 hp per liter....pretty comparable in my opinion

Agree but the N/A 3800 is about as far as it can go with street legal LSA and cudes. That's why the next cam up from stock is a little lopey.. 200 crank is good when you consider the heads themselves are so restrictive. The lsa on the l67 is'nt far off the l36 either. Little more durration and tighter valve springs same head castings.. Basicly you have relatively limited choices (compared to v8) till you FI them..

You know you drive a Camaro (4th gen) when puller cars with the same engines got things like DOHC, aluminum heads, and blowers. But you get 1940's mechanics topped with a bunch of turn of the century high tech Chinaxican shit..

hp per liter is ricer math ..idgaf if a 4cyl makes 57hp per cyilnder or 13 because at the end of the day..it still doesn't make it fast or any cooler than a v8..hp is hp and tq is tq ..period

im sorry but i hate when people say(about lsx base) pushrod technology is ancient and assume ohc is better and to get with the times etc...dohc was around in 1919..far from new..and the heads at the time 97+ were state of the art and still to this day could slap dohc heads/setups in the face with its manhood.

our 2v can flow/outflow many 4v set ups..simplicity is where it is at. /end rant

Datz nice brah, but I was talking about the all iron (1940's = Buick wild cat days) 3800 since dats wut I gots.. The only way a 2 valve motor is ever out flowing a 4 valve motor is if the 2 valve has more valve area when open than the 4 valve.. Second a 2 valve is a side breather and a side fire setup. We are hemisphereical (LQ1/3800II comparision) and center fire.. = superior...= more efficient burn.. Then we get into timming/tuning and LSA.. 2-valve = fixed LSA, DOHC = reset (change degrees) cams.. It's also why the "old" LT5 makes more crank than an LS1, yet the LT5 does'nt flow quite as well but uses what it has more efficiently... State of the art only gets you so far with 2 valves..

Really guys? Talking about 3.8s? When buying a Camaro the main requirement was that it had a LS1. All this V6 talk is killing this thread.

this, last time I checked this was ls1.com......I think. V6 f-bodies need to be compared to other competitive v6 rivals......not to a LS1.

Duuude my V6 blah blah makes as much hp/liter as your LS1. SOO in actuality your LS1 isn't better at all. Oh well aren't I stupid, guess I should've bought a V6 Or hell why not just a 4banger civic!?! They make just as much hp/liter as your LS1 too! <----this is the core behind ricer mentality

worth noting gentlemen..that without those v6 sales..there would be no v8 option...v6s sell the most and support the model so they can offer hi po options so some respect is deserved for the 3800.
