I vote no based on it's more hassle than it's worth to remove it.

well I use it all the time, my car gets dirty and icey in the morning so I use rain-x all the time, I could see it as a way to reduce some weight up front by not using it or keeping it empty, but for airflow gains, i see none...

Yeah, it would make more sense to leave it empty because the plastic might weigh 2-3 pounds at the most. What if SLP released some ultra lightweight windshield solvent?
No, it's not worth it. Our cars don't get air through the grille like every other car out there. Air is pulled up from underneath the car and it was designed that way. Maybe save up for a functional ram air hood.
I recommend the Ultra Z hood from VFN.
This is what it looks like: http://www.tbyrne.com/ls1/100000Z.jpg

Skip it, do something else! Good question though.

lol, I haven't had it in mine since I got it, and haven't ever needed it, so i've never gone through the trouble of getting a replacement. I had to wonder though the first time I tried to clean the windshield, then went to add fluid.... you want to talk about confusion! She's baaaaaccccck...
