Will I break?
I have a 98 Camaro Z28, M6..my mods are a lid, muffler, 100 dry shot of nitrous, and some Mickey Drag Radials. From what I have read the one thing I am concerned about is the rear end. I am going to the track here soon, 1/8 miles, and a new rear end is not really in my budget if i break. I just wanted to know what some of you guys think. Also, i know i need some subframe connectors, so if anyone has any they want to sell...im buying. Thanks guys.

hey i just wanna know how much abuse do u have to put your car through in order to break the rear end? i've got an 01 ss m6 and i've dumped the clutch at around 4k a couple of times just for fun, just wondering if thats an absolutley terrible thing to do. (yes i know its bad) Was that a rough 102k miles 1bad99ss?

I just invested in a Ford 9" by Moser with aluminum case and 3.70 gears with Eaton POSI. I suggest something similar for you. Esp. if you are hard on the car.
Also, beef up the tranny."I am the executioner. When a crime is committed and the exalted state does not take vengeance nor move to punish, then comes time for the executioner to declare himself. I have waited long enough. The criminals are hereby sentenced to death. By fire. By earth. By water."

$2755 for the rear with MOSER Aluminum Housing, Drain Plug, Eaton POSI, 4 channel ABS, Exciter, etc..., and 3.70 gears.
Another $600 for install.

Is there any cheap way to strengthen up a rear end or does us A4 drivers have nothing to worry about? I heard we shouldn't get anything bigger the 3.73 gears

Mine is a4. You are right, gears higher than 3.73 are not recommended. My shop does not recommend higher than that for a4.
Cheap way to strengthen you rear? How often do you want to replace it? lol
Seriously, just save your money and make the right purchase the first time. You're 17...so I'm assuming you live at home. If so, I think saving some money should be no problem if you have a job. If not, get a job!
Then, go for a Ford 9, or a 12 bolt if you want. I prefer the strength of a Ford 9. My shop says they are a better setup. They use both for their race cars and prefer the Ford 9 over the 12 bolt.

Well should I worry about it breaking if I have an auto and put 3.73 gears in it?

You will break it. There is no IF...IT WILL BREAK.
Save your money and get a stout rear end.

Well, I came home from the track with a win, and with a NON-broken car. I did manage to edge my buddy's supercharged cobra by a few tenths so it was a good night. Even with DR's on, traction wasn't the best, and track prep wasn't the greatest either. At least I got that kill tho.

Probably good the track prep was bad, when it does hook good hitting the nitrous out of the hole the rear may boom. My A4 has 300 passes on the stock rear with 3.42 gears, but they say the M6 cars are harder on them since there is no pre loading. I also don't have nitrous yet(is on my mind though).
