will this get me 50 HP
hi everyone just picked up a 1999 white z28(with factory ground effects)
and 80,000,very well kept 9.3 out of 10
it has a slp lid,and ram air,2300 stall built trans with shift kit(spins when it hits second gear)and i have a slp preadetor(and have my ltft down to 0)
and a cat back system
car runs great, about like my old ram air 400 gto.
now i am going to put in these items:
patriot gold spring kit
slp ls6 intake kit
mac ory no cat direct bolt up y pipe
msd 8.5/ngk combo
scorpion 1.8 roller rockers
question is will this get me atleast 50 hp gain price for all the goods is $1500
then maby next year do a cam and lt's,timing chain and oil pump
its not a daily driver but will be driven alot and maby 2 strip days a year
just looking for a very reilable 400 hp car thats fun to drive
dont want a $700 fast intake or the best of the best goodies just good reliable fun power(love to beat down the fords)

So if I read this right
Ls-6 manifold
springs w/o the cam
ory,spark plugs, roller rockers.
Yow will not get anything close to 50 hp from that kit. From stock it took me a lid ported throttle body ls-6 manifold, haeaders w/ true duals to get 50hp. You would be lucky to get 30 hp if you added a cam but w/ manifolds not happening
me stock 288rwhp after mods 338rwhp 355tq auto

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
It will be a great accomplishment if you pick up 25 HP out of those items you listed. You can forget 50 though. Forget the rockers and do long tube headers instead. Long tubes, and LS6 intake would net you 25-35 HP. Do the plugs and wires as well. I wouldn't swap the springs out right now either, wait until you do a cam.

Where you from man?? Skip the ORY and go long tubes and sell the handheld and get a tune.
That will get you 50 and be about the same price or less if you shop around.
As y2k says, wait on doing any valvetrain work till you buy a cam, then buy a kit(it will be cheaper)

yeah it was a dream
i think i will do the LT's and intake and the wires and plugs
then when it hits 120K ill do the timing chain, oil pump, cam and rockers, springs and lifters
i like the hand held tuner,it gave me a good power increase(went from taking off fast to smoking the tires if i slam it to the floor)
also i have bigger tires and i am going to put diff gears in the rear
the slp predator is not a bad unit ,also i love being able to adjust every setting on the transmission.
after the cam i will maby get a tune and have it put into the slp predator
i live on kentucky lake.
where is this KY Speed located ??????????????Last edited by lovedrvr; 02-28-2009 at 04:30 AM.
