when buying a new lid why only 00-02 Z's need the air breather? what is that?
i was ordering a new mit clear lid and theres a option to add a air breather. what is it? and why only 2000-2002?
heres the text form web
Lid replaces your current air filter lid and gets rid of those horsepower-robbing air baffles on either side of your stock airbox. The Whisper lid has a much less restrictive airflow path so horsepower is increased. The Whisper Lid is molded for an excellent fit and comes with necessary hardware and simple installation instructions. It will work with your stock air filter, K&N Filter, or Holley PowerShot Filter. Note: This unit will also work on 1998-2002 LS1 Camaro SS and 1998-2002 LS1 WS6 cars. Please Note: For 2000-2001 LS1 V8 Model Cars, an additional breather filter is required[Last edited by greatwhiteZ28; 02-27-2007 at 04:16 PM.

Emissions fittings changed from 98-00 to 01-02.
Air pump/EGR changed. No EGR on the 01-02's.

The breather filter goes into the end of the air hose that connected to the stock air box, install one and zip tie it out of the way being careful not to kink it and restrict air flow - will throw a SES light. And don't worry about EGR.

1998-2000 should have EGR.
Unless it has been deleted.
