bone stock z28 conv with ram air hood ran a 13.76 at 100.9 automatic 3.42 rear end. I think I could get a 13.60 out of it if I tow it out next time instead of driving out, but thats about it.

Mind me asking what the difference between driving it there and towing it there would be??

My LSx motors have both done their best after a pass or two (or on the 3rd or 4th dyno pull) when nice and warm.

by the time i get there my car is heat soaked. generally speaking cars make more hp when they are cold. thats why i think if i tow it there i will eliminate the heat soaking and hopefully get a 13.60 out of it. when motors are hot you lose hp. from what i understand anyways.

I am not trying to lecture you or anyone its just what i have been told and personally seen with other cars. i could be wrong but i doubt it, without trying to sound arrogant. lol

When a motor is right around the 195-200 degree mark should be when it runs the best.

Always found that to be true with my LSx motors.

    My best....

my car actually got slower when it got that warm so i got it tuned and now it never gets over 185. my fastest passes have been when the car has been cooler, my dads big block ran its fastest time when it was running 20 degrees cooler than normal also.

you could be right but i feel that my car has always seemed fastest around the 160 mark.

Negative. My run is the right lane.
Car is an M6. Not much of a top end....as I lost some MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4.

As for the heat thing....every car is different. I have just seen a lot of the LSx cars make better power numbers after 3-4 pulls on the dyno, and I know mine likes to be warm (not hot) for the track.
Proper combustion is around 195 degrees.

i ran a 13.6 at 107 on my first run, a 13.9 at 99 on my second, (where traction control made my car fall flat on its face off the line) and a 13.1 in the third run, with open headers and a decent launch. on the third run my 60' time was 2.03... not bad for my first outing at the track... we'll see what 4.10s, an xpipe and some experience can bring me .....
race it, wreck it, dump some time and cash into it and DO IT AGAIN...

Not sure what determines excessive heat for some people,,,but I've found that a good cool down is what provided me with best times, both with the race car,,,and several of our street cars of which are both carbed and fuel injected.

For us it seemed that cooling the car down to about 150 degrees produced the best times, since after the burnout and staging the car usually hits 170 degrees before the tree drops. That's usually the routine we try to duplicate every run for consistancy. Anything warmer than that and our ET's suffer as a result. As the rounds wind down and you are called to the staging lanes sooner, we have to resort to spraying the car down with water to cool it,,,otherwise I have to fudge our dial in (ie: slower). That method has worked for our LS engines as well as the 70 formula (pontiac powered) and big/small block chevrolets.

Bone stock dirty paper filter. 13.7 @ 103

    Clean filter 13.6 @104

    Lid and a K&N Free ram air 13.4 @ 105

    Added a Magnaflow catback 13.2 @106

    Diablospot tuner 13.0 @ 108

    Nitto D/R's 12.79 @109

The DA's were all about the same with the 12.79 pass being 300' and the worst DA was with just a fresh filter and it was just over 600'.

That was the order I made changes to the car. I had 2 weeks in a row were I had 6 passes ranging between 13.001 to 13.009 before I bought the DR's and got some traction.
