I think a lot of it is right with some BS, but the auto is not any stronger than the manual. It's just harder to mess up. It is very easy to damage a manual with the stock shifter and not driving properly.

back in 05 when I was looking for a convertible for my wife they were selling one on e-bay. It was the exact same wording ,needless to say they were selling an automatic car. Just like any other salesman "mine is the best everyone else sells s*it"

    YEP,,,,

There is some truth to what is said in that article. It is getting harder to find nice 6-speed cars,,,,,,everyone has to realize these cars are owned by the very young generation and the 6 speeds really get ran through the ringer. Because of this I tend to lean towards the automatic cars myself,,,,especially cars that have not been modified in anyway.

I've seen some of what he is talking about myself firsthand. You really have to wait patiently for the right 6speed car to come along, or any 4th gen for that matter,,,,

Not to say there is anything wrong with 6 speed,,,as I own one of this example as well,,,,but you really have to pick over the car,,,,,there is alot of cobbled up shit out there. These things aren't getting any younger.

I also believe there is some truth in the article, but some blatant exaggeration with the problems related to a 6 speed. Automatics will almost always last longer than the 6 speeds. Since the 6 speeds were taken over by tremec, there can be no doubt that quality was sacrificed. If you're dead set on 6 speeds, then go with a good aftermarket transmission (although probably not these guys).

No entirely true... With a manual transmission you have less parts to worry about failing. Driver mod comes in to effect more. A good solid driver who knows how to really drive a stick, the trans will last forever. Automatics have a lot of parts that could fail, not only the clutches and gears, but the valve body and converter as well. I am a service writer at a dealership and I have seen SEVERAL automatic transmissions fail. Manuals sometimes....but usually they are very high miled vehicles. The clutch will go faster than the transmission anyway. It all depends on the driver.

Change your fluid every 40-50k miles and you should be ok. Automatic owners... change your trans fluid filter every 60k
