What's a good repair manual...

Do you guys use Chiltons or Haynes?

Is it worth the money?

I've used both brands and yes, they are both worth the money. Chiltons is a little more in depth and has a little more info in it. Haynes does the job fine though and when I had both for my old truck I'd find myself going back and forth between them because one would have something the other didn't have. For electrical stuff it's hard to beat all data online.......they have pretty much every schematic you could want for a vehicle. Also worth the money if you're stuck.

I have some of both. Little differences, but they both get the job done when needed.

I use GM's online service information. Service manual for any GM car from the past 10 years.

I bought the GM Factory service manual on Ebay. Once you get yours hands on a set of these you will never go back to Haynes or chilton. There is more knowlege in here than the 2 of those combined. Look up Example "1998 Factory service manual" on ebay. I think I paid about $29 shipped for mine. The good thing is that they are very in depth and cover the year you are looking for.

That is a heck of a deal. I paid $100 for the 3 volume set for our car at a swap meet.

There are some for 1998 & 1999. Make sure it is the GM manual you are looking for. Should be either a 3 or 4 volume set. Not the random manual on CD that some people try to sell. I did get a good deal on mine I double checked and it was a 4 volume set shipped for $34.94. There seem to be more avaialble for 1998 though.

This is what your looking for. This price is a little high. But I would say if you plan on keeping the car it's well worth it. Be patient and keep looking on Ebay. Set a search that will notify you when one comes up.

I found the 1998 manual for 14 bucks with 1 bid....no one outbid me ok!?

I wonder if the 2002 manual is any better than the 1998? MIght have updates or something?
