like in my honda it was 3K and you would be able to cruise around in any gear and it was the "sweet" spot for gas...where is that on the camaro?

It is called parked with the switch cut off. No but really it depends on which gear you are in.

When I’m cruising and my RPM goes over 2,000, I shift into a higher gear. I have a six-speed with a 3.90 gear, and typically don’t shift into 6th gear until I’m going around 60 mph. With the gear swap, I tach right around 2050 RPM at 80 mph and it's good for about 23 mpg on the highway.

I got an a4 and i always let up before it hits 2k to let it shift and I've never driven without going WOT so I usually get 18-22 highway/city with a few WOT mixed in there. One time I drove almost all highway and got 25, but i still went WOT a few times.

    Best for mileage / crusing

Stock Gearing ~ anything at or below 2000 RPM.

With true duals & glass packs ~ about 1800 RPM sounds bitchin with the top down. Has that highway sound like it could cruise around the world non-stop. Love going through the mountains in Oklahoma/Arkansas top down & listening to that LS1 labor up those hills, those Cherry Bombs will really be talking. Only thing that sounds better is my big Harley with straights or two Harley's side by side luggin up the side of those mountains in high gear ! At night with a full moon !

2200 to 2400 rpm's is the smooth spot where you'll get your best gas mileage on the highway. Around town, it doesn't really matter. I tend to keep it at 2000 or less around town.

what do you have a auto or stick?
    my m6 ----6th at around 15-1600 rpm(70mph) i get around 25-27mpg
i took a trip to atlanta a few weeks back i ran 75-80 there and back. raced a gt and a sl500 and still got 25.6mpg.

like the other guys said keep it under 2000 and you'll be fine.
not sure about a4 but my car at 2000 in 6th is like 90mph.

one time me and my buddy took a trip down to San Diego, it's a 200 mile round trip, but we took the long way down PCH, so it was around 220 I'm guesstimating. I wanted to see what kind of gas mileage I could get driving how I normally do, so I was going 40ish for around 50 miles, and 90 for the rest when on the freeway. It took a little over half a tank. I hear the best freeway cruise speed is around 75. Next trip to San Diego I take I'll go 75 and go the 200 mile route and tell ya my MPG. I'm really curious.
