What is teh true HP rating on an LS1 SS?

My buddy told me the specs on an SS states HP at 320, but that is not the actual figures and is roughly close to 350. Is this true?

My '02 put 300 to the wheels bone stock to the paper air cleaner, and it's rated the same 320 as the SS. At 15% loss for the automatic...well...you do the math.

back in the day of our f-bodys GM published HP numbers on all f-bodys that was measured lower then true RWHP so it wouldnt steal from the corvettes publicity. Now GM publishes engine dyno numbers like on the GTO.(to promote sales) Thats why GTOs really are not any faster then F-bodys, let alone they are heavier too.

Its safe to say that 01-02 f-bodys dyno very similiar at the rearwheels as a vette.

Atleast that is the general consensus that I always heard and understood.

There is no "true" rating as they all vary but the average stock LS1 will, on average put 300 HP to the wheel.

I never dyno'd my 2000 WS6 stock, but with only headers, 3" exhaust, lid & no LS1 edit tune, it put 323 to the wheel.

With an LS1 edit tune that figure jumped to 347.

no......he said three hundred to the rear wheels and with a fifteen percent loss this would equal about 345 horse at the flywheel.....these numbers are common for a 01 or 02......the earlier ls1's where about ten to fifteen horse less for some different reasons............i.e. cam and heads........etc.

    98 SS

With minor mods (exhaust, lid, maf, etc) I ran 306 hp to rears and 320 tq. The dyno figured i lost 25 hp to drivetrain loss which was figured during coastdown(at least thats what the guy told me). Hope this helps.

p.s. the tq curve was flat as a board

A given motor will actualy dyno less in a Corvette than an F body due to the drag in the transaxle.

I thought about that, but figured their slightly better manifolds would even it out.

A "stock" SS from 98-2000 models were factory rated @320 hp, 2001-2002 were bumped up to 325hp. SS's with optional SLP options raised the hp ratings. SLP intake options (airlid) added 10hp, and the SLP exhaust options (CME and "dual-duals" also added 10hp, up to a grand total of 340-345hp. These are just SLP claimed performance numbers through GM...many people call B.S. on them for whatever reason... I think it's feasible, since the 'vette LS1's of those years, put out a rating around 350hp due to a free-er intake and exhaust system.

i read that the 98-00s had bigger cam and the same heads. the intake should be the reason the 01-02s are a bit higher
