What should my next bolt-on be????

I have a 99 Z28 6-speed convertible. I already have cat-back exhaust, slp lid with K&N filter. Z06 clutch kit, SS front sway bar and 23mm rear sway bar with poly bushings, and superchips programmer (which didn't do a thing). The car only has 55k on it and I need a little more power. I don't want to do nitrous and I've been told long tubes don't due much unless you plan on doing internal engine mods. Has anyone really been impressed with any other bolt-on performance parts that I don't have?????

True, but I like my highway mpg. Anyone really impressed with smooth bellows or the aluminum K&N cold air kit???

4.10's will only drop you about 1 mpg or so......nothing to worry about. LT's do help alot regardless of internal mods. Do LT's and ORY = Off road y pipe unless you have to have cats. Then mail order tune and bingo about 20+ rwhp

Yeah, LT and ORY gained Too Fast .3-.5, depending on conditions, and also 2-4 MPH at the 1/4. I still don't have it tuned, gas mileage is up. My $0.02. I'd like to get some 4.10s, then my MPG would be back to where it was without the headers, still over 25 highway.

Cool! Any recommendations on good budget headers + y-pipe? Does the throttle body make enough difference to notice?

Cheap headers are Ebay style but I prefer Hooker 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" which are only a hundred or so more dollars. A excellent y pipe would be Texas Speed which is around $150. Porting the throttle body helps also.

Would it be better to port the stock TB or buy an aftermarket? What is the best process to port the TB? Should I bypass the coolant hose to the TB?

Yes do the coolant bypass for the TB. If you drive in very cold weather, tho, you may have TB icing problems, that's the only reason the coolant hoses are there.

Others will chime in on the value of porting the stock TB.

Porting stock will help throttle response and maybe 1 or 2 hp but every bit helps is my motto. And if you park your car during winters, then Throttle body bypass for sure

+1 on sfc! LT's will help out very nice. stay away from kn- not worth the money. pp tb is very nice, you dont need aftermarket unless you go heads and cam.

You bet. Mine had a solid 30mm and a SS has a hollow 32mm. Also, use a 86 to 92 rear sway bar. Some had a 23 or 24mm rear sway bar. They bolt into any 3rd gen. Put some poly bushings with it and mine handles like a vette! Best cheap upgrade ever!

I would go with long tubes, y pipe and a dyno tune. With all your mods and long tubes the tuning would open up some nice power. 4.10s are great but me personally, i would go with the sound and power boost.

    Texas-speed.com
There L/Ts are exact duplicates of Pacesetters, and a bit cheaper. I would deff go with the texas speed y pipe.
Coolant bypass is great, until the temp drops below 40 (no bueno)
Ported throttle body is deff a plus for the price.

I wouldnt buy a smooth bellow from slp, unless you can find one for less on ebay(not hard they are all over place, got mine for 25$ still in box) Combine that with an 85mm MAF, lid, filter, and ported tb should give you a nice little boost. That combo cut .6 off my quarter once i got it tuned. Even with out the tune, still decent.

Top all that off with some 4.10's and a a tune, you shouldnt have any problem turning 12 second passes.

    Hope that helps

I'm running 4.30:1 rear gears and still knocking down 27 mpg on good days...averaging 24-25 on highway.
