2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Go LSx and you'll never go back. I'm even considering an LSx based engine (with 4L60 or maybe a TKO) instead of the 454 thats currently in my 67.

What do you want out of it? What are your greater plans for the car?

Here is a place that builds solid LT1's if you go that rout. They have been featured in CHP mag multiple times. This way you don't need to change that much. http://golenengineservice.com/html/lt1_lt4.html

While you can put an LS1 into an LT1 car it's a PITA and not worth the effort IMHO. Find a good LS1 car and go from there.
Or if you're stoked over the LT1 it can be built also. But the LS1 has so much more potential. I know, I've owned both.

Go with Advanced Induction. They have a 355 LT1 "street" H/C setup that put down 480rwhp/419rwtq, 11.30's in the 1/4 in street trim. That will definitely get those guys respect.

with 3100 you might just want to build the lt1
if you do it right im sure you could forge it and buy cam and heads
or come up with a good drop in for close to that

I looked over that site and the engine you reference is more like $5200 not $3200. Even the LS6 service engine (long block) is $4700+. Not bad prices but a far cry from only $3200.
Item #89017532 is an 04 LS1 for $3429.06 and item #89017653 is an 04-05 Caddy LS6 for $3558.28. I'm guessing both are reman engines as they don't require an exchange core and will need all other accessories for the particular vehicle they will be going in. Not a bad price really but unless you have all the other items it'll add up in a hurry.
To the OP: Unless you can secure a 99 or newer F-body you're out of luck regarding an LSx based package.
Like stated above stick with the LT1 and build it.Last edited by 67CamaroRSSS; 11-15-2008 at 10:21 AM.

There was a '97 Camaro on ebay for (Buy it now) $5900 or best offer, that had the corvette LS1 motor in it with FAST intake and throttle body on it. I don't think it has sold yet! Offer your $3k and there's your motor with eveerything you need

Here's one of my dyno graphs if it helps any in making your decision. This was done on the stock stroke (355), LPE heads/cam. Just an example of the numbers an LT1 can put up, and this run was made with a faulty opti. The car made 440rwhp after the fix. Lets just say I have a lot of fun with heads/cam LS1's!
