What should this dyno?
I'm not much on the dyno thing other than to tune with, putting much more stock into a trip down the 1320, which we won;t be able to do for a few weeks.
However, the newly acquired 6 spd 38,000 miles-02 ss with headers, catback, slp lid and a predator tune says 358hp at the wheels. Is that good-bad or in between?
While I'm asking-I've done the upsize ratio on rockers before, but not sure if there is really any gain to be seen on the LS1 to 1.85's? Looking for a few more CHEAP adds that are really worth some gains.Last edited by dbs1; 08-17-2009 at 07:56 PM.

pretty darn good for what you got. most everyones gonna say ditch the predator tune and get a dyno tune from somebody that uses software like hptuners

Oh I know that's coming. I just happen to have the predator tuner left over from another project, and trying to use what I've got for now, though my regular shop with the dyno is all over me. (maybe they'll just do it free?-right)
I'll probably save the dyno tune for when we decide what we are really going to do to the car. FI, N20, cam, ect...
Right now the budget says...make do with what we have. Darn it!

Full bolt-on dyno's around 350ish. Down the quarter is up to you mid 13's to high 12's.

Oh I tried to sell the tuner, give it away was more like it. If I asked $150 I was offered $100. Later at $100 it was $75 and shipped free. I finally just hung on to it.
I will eventually get a dyno tune when my obamamomma bucks arrive, but until then, and more mods this will have to do.
So 250hp at the wheels is more of the norm? That sounds awfully low even for a bonestock LS1, let alone a low mileage/slightly modded one. I dunno?

My best guess....
340-350 RWHP with it running too lean for my liking thanks to that Predator tune (they lean you out or add timing to get the power, instead of actually tuning it).
As for the rockers....leave the stockers there. Spend that $$ elsewhere.

Yeah, that sounds a little more reasonable.

you should be 12.80s if you can launch that 6spd quicker on drag radials and decent air

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
No such thing as decent air in Arizona, at least at Phoenix's 2 tracks.
Well, maybe a few times a year during the winter....

I've got some left over dr's we'll put on. I've had some VERY good nights at firebird in Jan & Feb with 50 degree air and a adjusted elev of 200.
9.8 @ 140 in a car that would normally be 10.1 @135. At that point the trick is getting the track to hook, which it did with 1.4 60 fts. The street 69 and 01 C3 truck posted their best times on similar nights going 10.8 & 12.3 respectively.
Until late Oct. it's a little warm, but everyone else is dealing with the same thing, so you just be as competitive as you can.
Thanks for the replies!
