You can put a power adder on anything and make it fast.

not quite ..there is around a 16k difference..same difference between the SS and the gt500...that and the vette vs mustang is always 1 sided and the two arent rivals ..lets admit..as of right now..from the factory ..the mustang has a performance advantage..everyone knows it..that is why the z28 is in the works...
yeah guess i should have watched the whole video did think the gs was 64 grand

Ya,,,,I guess if the shoe fits,,,,

I'm just one of the few that don't jump for joy when I see a fast car that has a power adder on it.

Whether it be the bottle, or force fed,,,,I would expect it to be fast,,,,and it better be.

If that camaro SS and GT500 ford matchup came out any different I would be laughing my ass off

we could easily settle the bullshit with a lr4 or ly2 4.8 build in a 93-97 camaro and see
what the have to say. the lr puts out 275-85hp, and 285-90tq. and the ly puts 295hp and 305tq. STOCK. and i like the tq numbers. and you could do a build with factory parts so they could not complain and probably make way more horse than they do from the factory. then not to mention if you use aftermarket parts. i say with factory parts you could put together easy 350-70hp.

If i'm not mistaking the 03/04 cobras are hand built engines with there s/c. those ford boys like to leave that part out vs the production LS motor. horsepower t.v dynoed a high mileage 98 SS which was the lowest HP SS compared to the 02 SS. the 98 had 300whp inside there show room with no ram air effect they didn't even have a fan blowing on it to help. a show or to later they had a 03 or 04 cobra & it put down 368 whp ! not to impressive for a hand built S/C motor. Z06 hand built N/A 487whp so who has a better idea ! not ford !!!

I'd be willing to bet my money that an LS3 vette would beat a GT500 in pretty much every performance category.

^^ x2 last time I was at the track there was a stock C6 Z51 running 12.5's at 114 and that was an LS2. LS3 should have no problem beating a GT500, especially if they get into any road thats not straight.

That's like comparing apples to oranges,,,,not even in the same playing field.

That's even worse than the original comparison in this subject.

Motor Trend already did that comparison and the Corvette won in virtually every category. I'll try to find the issue.

I'm interested in what category it didn't win? Maybe on the dyno?

Let's compare Ford's modular V8 to the comprable GM motor. The first comparison is to the old LT1. Ford couldn't even beat that.

    1996 Mustang GT 4.6 2V 215 hp 46.7 hp per liter
    1996 Chevy Camaro Z28 LT1 5.7 275 hp 48.2 hp per liter
    1996 Cadillac Northstar 4.6 275 hp 59.78

    2000 Mustang GT 4.6 2v 260 hp 56.5 hp per liter
    2000 Camaro LS1 5.7 rated 305 s/b 345hp 60.5 per liter
    2000 Cadillac Northstar 4.6 300hp 65.21 per liter
1999 Cobra got recalled because the 4.6 4v made less hp than the 2vafter correction it was 320 hp on premium fuel. 69.56 per liter

    2004 Mustang GT 4.6 2v 260 hp 56.5 per liter
    2004 GTO 5.7 350hp 61.4 hp per liter
    2004 Mustang Cobra 4.6 4v supercharged 390 hp 84.7 hp per liter
    2004 Cadillac 4.6 Northstar 320 hp 69.6 per liter
2004 Cadillac Northstar 4.4 supercharged 469 hp 106.6 per liter

The Caddy Northstar smokes the vaunted Termi Cobra motor. Sorry about your luck Blue Oval fans.

    2005 Ford Mustang 4.6 3v 300 hp 65.2
    2005 GTO LS2 6.0 400hp 66.6

    2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR 5.4 supercharged 540hp 100hp per liter
    2009 Corvette ZR1 6.2 supercharged 638 hp 102.9

If you were to look at torque the GM motors would crush the Ford in a torque per liter battle.

Sorry the 4.6 Modular V8 was designed to be a cost efficient motor to produce not an efficient motor. That's why Ford is giving up on it in 2011.

The OHC and DOHC design requires a taller motor that raises the center of gravity. That higher center of gravity adversely affects handling. It also makes for a tighter engine bay.

Because the LS engine is so compact GM was able to move it rearward and mount it under the dash of the Corvette and 4th gen F-Body resulting in better handling and weight balance, while still keeping a low profile.

The LS motor has consistantly outperformed the Modular V8 in both fuel economy and torque/hp per liter even though the Ford motor is a OHC design. The Cadillac Northstar designed for quiet operation and smooth performance, not peak hp, performs better than the Mod motor too.

im sorry but tq per liter and hp per liter is bullshit and has no real world meaning.

and sorry but the termy engine is better then the ls1 stock for stock period ..hand built or not ..it doesn't matter...and of course a 7 liter engine will put up better numbers then a 4.6 ..that is just a stupid comparison..try a mach 1 with the 4.6 4v engine..the one that will give a f-body a run for its money..stock for stock...im a huge gm guy..but i give respect where respect is due...they made a great machine in the termys ...they gave the 4.6 great heads and a good s/c and it makes and makes..and makes great power...the ls1 is not the end all for engines.

I agree with you there for sure. The 4.6 is a great motor and those '03-'04 Cobras are the proof of that.

03-04 cobra motors came from the factor already having forged internals w/ low compression and high flowing 4v heads and a supercharger, it better put out some power.
