I agree with allbaugh_04. Be patient. I almost bought one several times but something always turned me off about the cars and I second guessed the choice.

I finally bought my 01 T/A on ebay about a year ago and I couldn't be happier.

    T-tops aren't everything.
I wanted a t-top car, but got the coupe instead.
Either way, its still going to be hella fun to drive.

I agree with you on being fun to drive, but my two previous F-Bodies have been hartops, and I always wanted a t-top car.

    Definitely gotta have t-tops.

    I know, I know....

I'm doing good though, it's been over a month already.

I'm going to look at it tonight after work (really this time!)
After looking at more classified ads I'm thinking it IS a good price.

    I found another candidate though...

    '99 Z28 A4, t-tops, cloth, 60k miles, cat-back, lid, ZR1 wheels, for 10.5k.

Found it on here actually....I was emailed more pics, it looks very clean. It's the right color, too.

    Decisions, decisions...

just be really patient, took like 6months -yerar for me. plus dont be one of theose buyers that buy a car with all these performance parts installed and from a young kid. even thoe it might run good and all that why not buy from a 50-60 year old who wants to look cool. and do a car fax. for sure its free if its from a dealer.

and try to buy stock, its for the best. that way you know its not been ragged on

^ I fully agree. I was looking at a local car with 29,000 miles m6 and a really great looking car for $14,900. I ran a car fax and found out it was a repo and had been bought at an auction. Not really what I was looking for.

that dont mean nothing, if you ever bought a used car at a dealership chances are it came from the local car aution. dealerships love to pick cars like that for the mark up. autions arnt that bad,

The repo part is what I meant. Usually when a car is about to get repoed the owner beats the shit out of it. Weather you believe that or not. I want a car owned by 1 owner preferrably a matture person. I would never by a modded car either for that matter.

I buy cars from individuals not stealerships.

thats real true, but theres this guy in canada by my house thats has a ferrari for 45,000 and his house looks like it could be 100,000. polish aution he said. soo i guess theres some deals.

and theres pro cons with dealerships and private sellers.

if you buy private you can say the car was bought for 4000 instead of 15000, save some tax $. but with a dealer that really dont care that you drop the price down 4000 off the rip, just just want to move it fast as they get them in, plus you can get a ext. warrenty like i did. ,but will pay the full 15,000 on tax

Dealerships fk you up the ass PERIOD. An extended warranty cost you more money they usually arent free.
I can buy a car and get my own warranty if I want. Several insurance companys and private companys offer extended warrantys. If you buy from a dealer you are paying several thousand more for a car than you would buying the same car from an individual.
Financing has alot to do with this. You dont have to believe me though. You will figure it out one day.

Not true in MA and RI. If you buy a car from a private seller, you pay sales tax based on the book value of the car. On a dealer purchase, THEN you pay tax based on the price of the car, minus the difference on the trade in. Meaning if the car is 10k, they give you 3k on your trade in, you pay tax on 7k.

As far as extended warranty, I'd never buy one, they have so many catches it's probably not worth it anyway.

And I agree with Breakneck, I'd rather buy a cared for car from it's owner. Also, I'd like to keep the mods to a minimum, unless they're things I'd do myself anyway, like a catback, lid, skip shift, etc.

Same thing with dealer financing. I did that once, and learned my lesson. Never again, I'll get my own financing from now on.

I went to look at the black one today, btw. Turns out it was a waste of time. They decided not to sell it, the salesman I had been talking to told me that the service dept had gone through it and had run a compression test on it, and they didn't like the results, so they were going to wholesale it rather than sell a potential headache to a customer. He had called me 4 times this afternoon to tell me not to bother coming, but I had forgotten I'd left my phone on vibrate from the night before, so I didn't hear any of the calls because I leave my phone on the dash while I'm in the car. D'oh!

I have no idea how far you are willing to go for one...I'd drive anywhere for the right one though. Some of these cars are ok.
