    Weird Knocking Noise

    I have a 96 Z28 M6.
I have a weird knocking noise coming in from underneath the dashboard. I know its not the motor becasue I cant hear it from underneath the hood. The only time I hear it is when my foot isnt on the gas pedal at all.
If I was just idling I can hear and if i just set my foot on the pedal without pushing it down the knocking stops.

it's a used car, you don't know what kinda hacking the old owner was capable of... so... just look around and underneath and all around... move things around till you find anything that might be loose

Get a flashlight, stick your head up under the dash and while its making the noise randomly grab things under there and see what you touch that makes the noise stop. Take your time you're going to have to pinpoint it a little better. Also you said it's not the motor but it only does it when the car is running? Try turning the key to ON but don't start it and see if it makes the noise. If you put your foot on the pedal and it stops, it's gotta be something thats loose. Let us know how you make out.

Yea car has to be on for it to knock and has to idle.
My foot just has to barely tap the pedal, I dont need to push it or anything and it stops.
