    V6>LS1 swap??

    aight so now i have a 1998 V6 auto 130,000 miles an lookin to get a LS1 for a school project an wont need to work on it till late fall so i dont want it to sit in the garage till then since im in the processes of gettin the LS1 motor. so how easy of a swap is it? wat more do i need to make this work in the V6 body? meanin will the trans n rear end hold up? jus wantin to know wat else ill need or not worth it an wait till im done workin on the motor...

    You'll need much more than just an engine.

    IIRC, the tranny belhousing pattern is different. The electronics (computer) are different. I'm sure ther's more. IMHO, V8 LS1 cars have become cheap enough to just buy a complete unit and go from there.

    I think if I had a V6 Camaro and wanted to redo the engine I would look for a low mileage supercharged 3800 out of a Grand Prix.

    Maybe for the supercharger but those motors are set up with a transaxle for front wheel drive.

    You'll need a trans fo sho, a V6 setup 4L60E probably won't handle that much power for very long, but if you don't get it rebuilt, or a new one, the bellhousings are removable so you could probably get away with swapping that for a little while.

    Yeah +1 on the tranny just go with a 6 speed. The 6 isnt that hard to snatch out. Idk bout the ls1 unless youre taking it out from underneath. Go with posi also. Trust me lol

    aight thanks for the info. guess ill jus let it sit their till im ready to work on it. an yes when im finished it will be goin into a Z28 M6 once i find one of those cheap enough which isnt easy.
