You should get some longtube headers and offroad y-pipe...some other possibilities would be a stall, an underdrive pulley, subframe connectors....

Well, depends....which of those are you thinking about? You could go different ways with this...you could spend all the money on an extremly nice set of stainless steel LTs, or you could go with a ceramic coated set that would be about $300-$400 and still have money to add more things from that list...

pacesetter headers are pretty damn good for the money. definately get subframe connectors i have bmr and they are hella good.

Even if you don't have a lot of technical know-how, I'm sure you could still do most of the bolt-ons by yourself; you'd be surprised how much of this stuff can be done if you just read up on the install procedures people have posted....now, when you say you're going to have someone install this stuff for you, are you talking about taking it to a shop? Or are you talking about a buddy that'll help with the install?

I mentioned that as one of the options he should consider...a stall will definitely make the car feel dramatically different, taking out those dead spots in the A4 However, if he gets a stall, he should definitely get a tranny cooler...which will just cost that much more $$$$....and he's on a 1k budget...

No, I got it when you said for him to save up lol...but it sounded like he was wanting to go ahead with mods now; not wanting to wait for awhile to save up....
But like I was saying, I definitely agree with getting a stall, whether it's now or at some point in the future....it is quite worth it!!

If you have any friends that know some about cars, you should have them help you install the bolt-ons....depending on the mod, it may take some time, but it'll be worth it knowing you did it yourself and you'll learn a lot in the process...plus, bolt-ons really aren't that complicated....not to mention that, by not taking it to a shop, you're going to have that much more $$$ for other mods!
