I changed the wheels from 16's to the 17/18's because when I bought it the last owner put chrome firebird wheels on it. If I were going to strictly drag race the car I would have kept it 16's on Camaro wheels tho and had drag radials. I bought it for something fun to drive just once in a while on a nice day and wanted it to look good while doing so. When I was trying to decide what wheels to put on the car I looked at probably hundreds of 4th gens online to make up my mind on what I liked and most people have bigger wheels. My traction concern wasnt with a drag racing launch where you need the most traction but with normal driving. I can be going 50 in this car and nail and it will go side ways or at any speed in 2nd gear. Ill do a few suspension upgrades like sfcs and maybe a few others to help the body with flex. If that doesnt help traction some then atleast my car will be tighter in the process. If all fails then I will go to a drag radial on my 18's.

Orion, thats a subject I always wanted to hit on, but could never remember of all times I carry my ass onto this site. My buddy had a pair of 15" Welds w/ a 26" tall slick, and had to grind down his caliper edges on the back in order to get them to fit. He wasn't happy about it at all and only went to the track with it like this two times before he ordered and installed his 12-bolt. Any indea what 15" wheel/tire combinations are out there for the factory 10bolts? I'd like to look at getting some myself, as I don't like the idea of putting DRs on my 16" snowflakes. Besides, if I can find some for only a cunt hair more than new DRs, I'll be happy.

Billet Specialities makes a really nice set. I don't know how much they might cost though. Not my cup of tea.

Billet Specialties and Bogart's both work without grinding I'm pretty sure but both are high dollar wheels. I'm pretty sure also that the Greg Weld wheels which are now called Race Star have been redesigned so they'll fit the f-bodies.
What mods do you have? No reason really you shouldn't be able to hook 16" drag radials. I cut 1.6x 60's on my MT's last year and cut a 1.71 on nitto's and there's plenty of people that do better than that on 16's.

That's if you drive the car like your racing everytime you take off. He is just trying to get some traction so that he can enjoy his car without it ice skating on the road.

This time of year in South Jersey he's not getting traction regardless.

I'am gonna get 15" wheels for mine also. Iam going with 15x4 with 1.75 backspacing and 15x9 with 6.5" backspacing Convo Pro's. The front fit over the LS1 calipers without a spacer and grinding Butt The backs you gotta grind some but not as much as Weld Pro stars or Draglites. You dont have to use a spacer eaither. You can use the stock studs also.I heard the 15x8/8.5 with 5.5" backspacing you dont have to grind any.... Hope this helps you out also..
