    Traction Control/asr

This is simple question for pretty much anybody on here. My car had some wiring problems from the previous owner. The button for Traction that Says ASR above the radi has a light in ? When I press it, the light goes off. There is nothing on the dash at all - I am assuming that in the cluster bulb is out or something. The question I have is how do I make sure the traction control is OFF ? Should the ASR button be lit up or not ?

    Sadly now demodded :(

When you press the switch and the light goes off then the ASR is off as long as the engine is running. If you turn the engine off you'l have to deactivate ASR again.

If the light in the instrument cluster doesn't come on (yellow letters stating ASR OFF) it may just be a bulb. If it doesn't come on briefly when you start the car then it's most likely the bulb.

Need to be sure? Do a burn out. Foot brake for an A4 or slipping the clutch on launch for an M6 should get the tires spinning.
