What did they have to say as to how precise it would be compared to that of a typical above average dyno tune?

My guess is that its not going to run perfect. You need to get on a chassis dyno. With that cam comes little driveability quirks, and a mail order probably won't cut it.

No doubt, you will be leaving some power on the table with just a mail order tune on it.

Figured that but the price of dyno tune is to much for me right now, they said they would be able to get it very close and hopefully later in summer can get it dynoed

Thats why whenever someone asks about the costs of a camshaft swap, that they must figure in the cost of a tune. Hopefully it works out for you.

very true wish i would have done the cam swap myself instead of buying a car with it already done.

You bought a car with a cam already installed... got it...

But what I don't understand is why you're sending off for a mail order tune? You didn't buy a car with a cam in it and now have to send the computer off to get re-tuned for this same car are you

I'm kind of confused also by that last statement. From what you stated, it sounds like you bought a car with the MS3 already installed in it. Was it not tuned already?

Yes and it had a mail order tune and the dump kid got in there and started jacking with it and now it doesnt run right. people who dont know what they are doing shouldnt try to tune shit. Im good with motors but not computers so i dont even try to screw with them.

If it's not running right now, your BEST bet is to actually get it dyno tuned so it can be dialed in 100%.

I think your hopes are set too high, friend.

Im betting you should see 330-340 rwhp, tops.

Also, Jason Mangum, owner of Texas Speed, has been playing with These F bodies fora long time, and i would trust any work done by his shop.

That's usually the price of a dyno tune... I'd check into that first.

closest place to me to dyno to is redline in st. louis and he wants $450, texas speed mail order is 225 and the 380 to 400 is what they said to expect for horsepower with my mods.

Personally would have went with Frost, believe he is also cheaper then what you paid.
