I bought an 02 Camaro SS with 8K miles. All SLP upgrades and has never been in the rain for $20,500 for what ever it is worth...

Wow I can see there are a lot of price differences. It seems that the ones that are mostly stock go for higher prices.

I think the difference in price between modded and stock cars worries people, because they are unsure of the quality of the modifications. I recently perchased 01 SS to replace my 02 z28 (totaled Dec 2006 RIP) and most of the mods done to it were done by knucleheads. From the drilled and slotted rotors (which do have a rotation direction) put on the wrong sides of the car, to a stereo system that look like little kids installed it. My brother, a Diesel mechanic, could have done better. If your mods are well done and clean you should not take less than 18K. Just my .02

It's not just the quality of the mods, Its the mods themselves, Especially on certain cars,It breaks my heart to see some of the cars on here, gorgeous super low mile,SS convertibles, being destroyed with ridiculous mods, There is NOT an endless supply of these cars, + nice stock ones are disapearing fast,my 98 built in may 97 will be ten years old already, when it comes out in the spring. In another ten years everybody wll be looking for the most unmolested one they can find, + will pay more for the originality.
Every mod costs money, to put on, but at the same time is making the car worth less, + probably shortening the life of the car, because once a car gets modded it, usually keeps on getting modded more + more as time goes by,but the longer a car stays stock, the better chance it will stay that way in the future,+ in general an unmodded car gets treated better,+ in the future will definetly be worth more.

exactly. the only real performance mods ive done to my car is an slp lid, and a cai, both of which can easily be put back to stock when i sell the car someday. i also had the tb ported but from an external inspection theres no way to tell that. im still toying with the idea of getting some lt's and ory this spring but now im thinking in a decade or 2 it will hurt the selling price. so its either power now, or less money later....tough decision.

I made it so all my mods are reversable. I kept all my old stuff. you can buy a stock SS muffler from SLP if you wanna go back to stock. I dunno why you'd want to besides having a stock setup for resale. maybe in 30 years our cars can be on barret jackson and they'll look at the stock-ness or something. I dunno.

I dont think an exhaust mod or air lid is that big of a modification to matter. Headers might be. Heads, Cams, Body kits, and other drive train components might be. I think people prefer stock so they can mod them theirselves if they choose. My 2c.

actually most people prefer stock because they would assume a stock car hasn't been abused or raced like a modded car has. even though thats not always the case, in general it is true. the point of doing mods is to make the car faster and give it more power, which is needed for racing. if you just use the car as a sunday driver and never run it wot or full out you wouldnt care about getting more power into it. that's what prospective buyers are thinking about....at least thats what i thought before buying my ss last year.

I would start at 20 grand. I bought my 2000 SS with 8k on it for 22k back in 03. I think they was a much higher demand for our cars at that time though. I would ask 20 in the hopes of getting 17,500 or 18,000. Good luck.. and please KEEP THE CAR!

I paid 16k for a '02 SS w/all SLP options except for the painted grille. It has 64k miles on it.

price was inline w/ KBB, and I was having alot of trouble finding black/black, M6 t-top. Not to mention true SSs are gold around here.

Your car is rare enough with the color/trans combo; all the SLP stuff helps even more. Your mods are pretty conservative and I don't think they'll hurt too much. If you were in the southeast you could get 20k pretty easily I think. I don't know much about the CA market. Local availibility has alot to do w/it IMO.

Too tough to pick just 1

Just bought my stock '99 pewter SS for $15.5K from the dealer...well kind of. I actually traded my Audi A6 for it. But the paper work put it at that price. It was listed at $16.9K which I think was low for a dealer price considering the others I saw in Autabuy and Deals on Wheels. The dealer next door had a 99Z with 75K miles listed at the same price.
    Hope that helps.

sometimes automobiles are like real estate. the price depends on location...
as a fellow Californian an asking price of 20K sounds fair, given the lowww mileage and options/modifications. but I wouldn't take less than...18K,
Remember how much these cars were when new? (assuming you didn't get a total "good guy" deal)

    Kept the ss

Well things worked out to where I didn't have to sell the SS. I am glad I kept it and I never plan on selling it until I can get $50k for it (maybe 15 more years and another 5,000 miles?) I hope that it can retain its value with these newer Camaro's, Challengers, Stangs coming out with way more horses.
