Wrong, I know of several people that have blown 10 bolts with stock power levels and street tires. You always have to worry about the 10 bolt.

Spinning the tires unloaded is hard on the rear. I've been told by a few mechanics that's why my pinion seals always leak. I blew out a posi unit in my truck by burning rubber around a right turn.

so popping the clutch at about 3500 and brake standing till you get them spinning good then going for the donut is bad? That's the way I planned on doing it. or from a dead stop I could light up 1st then 2nd then start slinging it, right? or is there a different or better way to do it?

It's really bad if you do the 3rd gear break stands. Who needs brakes for donuts? Just let them rip at 5k or so.

brakes are just to make sure I've already got both tires spinning, then I'd release them and do my thing

    Bad Cop...No Donut!

    7camaro7,

Save the donuts for another time!

Do the right thing for yourself financially. Once you are financially stable, you can try some other things. Keep it sane and safe. That way, you can save your money for your mods...instead of a new rear end!!

the biggest safety thing I have found around hear(north carolina) is this. if I do race on the street I race from a stop light to about 50mph i figure that is enough to settle whos car is faster, becuase lets face it if you realy want to know go to the track. but alot of imports and mustangs have no problem doing about 120mph down the highway whit traffic. mabe I am being a bitch but that is insaine once you get beat off the line to simply run out till you get pulled or hit something.

    Unfortunately:

Idiots around here weave in and out of traffic until one quits or runs into someone or something. There has been a lot more media coverage of "illegal street racing" due to this BS.

The sad thing is that we are the ones that truly suffer. For once the street racer gets in a wreck or caught, heor she's pretty much done. Then, they (damn politicians) go about passing anti-cruise ordnances or a bunch of other BS laws that try to regulate the law abiding car lover! All it does is piss me off...i don't know about you guys. Just my 5.3 cents!

You're OK Adam. Just be safe out there. Enjoy the power of your ride!

thanks you to. and i also think that is where the rediculous new state inspection laws came from. I dont know what it is like where you are but hear then run a complete diagnostice teast to see if anything has been shut off or bypassed.

    Ditto Here!

In Cali...especially in the Northern California Valley, Sacramento in particular, they actually have a visual inspection and diagnostic sniffer, etc...I think they even check your gas cap for proper seal.

I am not 100% positive on the gas cap thing.

My 5.7 gets better highway mileage than my wife's 2.4 and is only behind in the city by 2-3mpg's! People have such bad misconceptions of modern V8's.

    Urban Legend:

I heard that there was a guy that actually had invented an engine that had so much power and ran really clean but the big three auto makers bought the rights to it from the guy saying that they were going to develop it but then they squashed it.

I saw it on discovery channel.

I still like my gas guzzler

I've heard similar things about a special carb that could make a car motor do 100MPG. I'm not sure if I believe that or not.
