SS vs Mach 1 ?
Hey, going tomorrow night to finalize the deal on one of these vehilces. Even after driving both, I still am having a hard time choosing. Price an insurance are almost similar too. Anyone have any suggestions for me ? I know the Camaro responds better to bolt ons, an I won't have as much money to mod the car while making monthly payments if that helps your suggestions.

haha, that says it all.. doesn't' it. They're 03 mach 1 or 02 ss. both have 21k miles and are 1000 dollars different in price. The monthly payments will only be 15 dollars difference.

I think the ls1 will get better gas mileage too.

18D Cock Diesel- 1999 Z28; 98 SS #2043 RIP
Go SS!
The SS is more desirable in my opinion. You won't see as many SS on the road as mach 1s. At least in California you don't.
SS is cheaper to mod and they are really responsive to mods. A moderately modded SS is still faster than most mustangs.
Plus your payments will probably be cheaper with the SS...insurance too since the car is older. What year SS? What year Mach I? may make a difference!
Whichever way you go, good luck.

i ran a mach 1 and they arent too shabby.
now, having given my self prescribed one-a-day praise to Ford, get the ss.
there are no reasons needed......just tool around this site and see what people have. see how they look, what power they put down, and what trap speeds they run. fast ls1s are a dime a dozen if youre only partially smart.
why waste money on a supercharger to get a 4.6 to run with a 5.7 when you could get all bolt ons for the 5.7 for the same price and own pretty much everything (to all who are about to split a hair on this, shut up).

The Mach will hold its value better, will sound better, has a better rear and you would enjoy it screaming up around redline (especially with 4.10s or 4.30s), which is where it makes its best power.
Having said that, I would take the SS hands down... More torque, better gas mileage, easier to work on, better shifter feel/position, faster (especially in the higher gears) great aftermarket and IMO way better looking.
The only Stangs I would consider would be a 5.0 Fox or an 2003-04 Cobra...

I'd go with the SS, a guy I worked with had an '04 Mach and i've got an '01 Z28, a4 66k miles with only an slp cai and flowmaster pipes and I beat him 3 out of 3 runs from roles at 30, 40, and 50. We went up to 120 on the last run and I had him by a car length. I could hear him going through the gears and he was hitting them clean too. Go with the BOWTIE yo's!

Hah, yeah. I'm not too worried about racing yet actually. I'm going to go with the SS for the simple fact that I still see 67-81 camaros selling for a lot of money an the mustangs are just worthless. The only reason I was considering the Mach 1 was for the looks of it, not really the power or anything, but I can get a $3000 dollar Cadillac if I want looks right ?

SS are a dime a dozen....... The Mach 1 will be a investment.
The Mach is actually a VERY strong foundation for a awsome bottle setup.
I can defenatly say I would chose the Mach 1 cause I would have a true 10 second bolt on car easier and cheaper than the SS.
That mod motor in the Mach is a 4 valve Cobra motor without the blower.
It will be hard for you to not get a biased opion due to the site your asking from.
Thats my 2 cents for you.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
