As sad as that will be i fully expect it to happen. What with the challangers epic fail.
Performance really doesn't dictate selling price as much as limited production.

History has shown with 60's and 70's muscle cars that low production cars bring the higher prices, and some of these aren't the fastest cars of the bunch.

With that said, I don't believe the performance of the new camaro coming out will have anything to do with 4th gen values.

If anything at all,,,,the 4th gens that will appreciate in value in years to come will be the SS models, especially the SLP optioned cars,,,and more than likely the WS6's as well.
They aren't necessarilly faster than other 4th gens,,,but the low production and being harder to find in years to come will be the final say in pricing.

Well, I hope you're right. That's one reason I selected the options on my car.

See sig. My particular combination of options may be unique when car color, roof style, and transmission are considered.

welcome to our economy...i bought my for 24k in oct of 06 and I've seen LE SS's going for 10k on local craigslists...but c i don't really give a fuck about that because my car has moresenitmenal value to me then paper value...ur complaining about a car...look at people who bought homes a few years back...here in cali especially a house that was valued at lets say $600,000 and purchased at that price two years ago is probly worth less than $300,000 today, if that...that life for u...wat can u do except adapt and hustle?

The only reason I would car about the blue book value of my car is for if it ever gets totalled. I plan on upgrading to a Vette if it ever happens.

I hope u plan on avoiding any situation that would get ur car totaled...wat would u do lets say, god forbid, that u got in an accident tomorrow and totaled ur car? 19y/o, unless u have major dough in the bank wouldn't be able to afford a vette even if u worked two jobs...if u did work two jobs for a vette then ur just not enjoyin life devoting most of ur time for a machine...just my opinion feel free to elaborate if you want.

Why you gotta go and make sense and destroy my back up plans?

I'd never even consider trying to get my car wrecked. I love my car. But the idea was that if anything ever happened to it I could get another fun car....

I hope I am too,,,lol. Just judging by what has happened to the 60's and 70's cars and living through that,,,it just seems that now history is repeating itself again. I know so many people that bailed out in the early 70's gas crunch, cars were cheap, no one wanted them. Now look at them,,,you have to mortgage a house to buy one.

You bring up a great point, one that I think will also come into play. Options and how the cars were equipped, colors etc....it's exactly what drives prices on the older muscle cars as well.

Both of our SS's (one in particular) seems to be rather low in production given it's color,,,,only 1 of 59 made. The other is 1 of just over 600 so it's not as rare,,,but give these cars another 15 years and see how hard they are to find. It's hard to say right now,,,but I'd buy one now while they are cheap and easy to find.

I just read your sig,,,and your car is much like my wifes SS we just purchased, a 2000 with quite a few SLP options like the dual, dual exhaust, chrome ZR1 style wheels, SS floor mats, hurst shifter and a couple others,,,,but ours is the sebring silver color,,,a lighter shade than your pewter SS. Very cool.

i sold mine last month for $4g more than i paid for it. i drove it for a year an a half, and put a load of mileage on it. cars are worth whatever you can get for it, don't worry about what the book says, these cars are purchased by a small part of the population, and these people will pay for these cars because they know what they want.

however, if you are trying to invest money, cars are a bad idea. go buy real estate.... its down now, but it will go up again, way better return on your investment.

Hmmm last year I bought mine for 10k...and it was a 98 SS w/ 87k + some upgrades. I think right now it is only worth around 8-10k, but it's as Insert is saying...it's whatever the next person is willing to pay for it. I don't really care about how much it is worth or w/e too (Which I agree with Saggin) All these things are just materials. Money is just paper...we all work for it, and spend it on materials + others. I bought the car for enjoyment..not for it's value. The time, memories, and experiences the car and I have had is what counts. Thats why I will probably keep it untill it is absolutely useless, or my lady makes me move to Japan. (Importing cars is ridiculously expensive ......)

Most dealers and banks use NADA not KBB. I priced mine through KBB and it was pretty low but Through Nada it was about 5 grand more..

Great attitude to have. Wish there were more car people thinking this way.
Alot of my car buddies are like this for the most part. Makes car events a blast.
It's easy to think of the 4th gens this way right now. Unfortunately some of the 60's muscles cars have just gotten too pricey and irreplaceable now to use in this manner. Can't just pick up a local paper and find L78 Novas and camaros or COPO's for chump change,,,on the other hand 4th gens are a dime a dozen which makes enjoying them less stressfull right now

Exactly!...and with them being a dime a dozen you can create or form something to your desire...give your car an identity. My belief has always been "A car is a mirror image of yourself in some sort of way" Whether your artistic creativity, or from your physical appearance, even to how lazy you are. I bought mine with it looking decent, but I decided my goal would to be fixing it up to make it look like the Camaro I pictured in my head. Just cannot wait until I am finished with my masterpiece.

I have a 2000 red auto SS Camaro with T-tops and black leather in Michigan. It is dead stock with original 17 SS rims and good tires. Always adult owned. It has 120,000 miles on it but it had almost 90,000 put on it in the first three years. Runs fantastic doesn't burn oil. Will let go for $5,500.

Thats the way to be Thats why we enjoy our 4th gens everyday,,,less worries when they are currently easy to replace. Wifes car gets totaled and I find another. Maybe in 15 years I'll have to rethink my strategy and find something different for daily use, but right now there is no reason not to.
