Wow people......First off, I appreciate the positive comments. I am really enjoying the IROC.

For the negative comments, you probably shouldn't judge unless you know the circumstances. I HAD to sell the SS for financial reasons. I am a family man with 4 children and it made more sense to use the money differently right now. Those of you bashing me for it, are probably too young to even know what that is all about. Don't worry, you will someday.

I have had 5 different F-Bodies through the years.....1969 Firebird, 1973 Firebird, 1988 IROC, 2002 SS, and now the 1989 IROC. I actually feel lucky to have found such a nice third gen and be able to buy it.

So again, thanks to those who had supportive comments. And even MORE thanks to those who disagreed, but were respectful about it.

P.S. - If the new Camaro is everything I hope it will be.....you can count on me having one! (As well as the IROC!!)

Sorry people, after going back through the posts, this idiot was the only one being disrespectful. And to him.....

So, to the rest of you.....Thanks!

BTW - I sold the SS for $24,500 and bought the IROC for $8,000 straight up. It is so bone stock that it makes me sick.....hahaha....I don't know whether to mod it or keep it stock and wait for the new Camaro.

it is all about what the owner wants in a car, even if he traded it in for a yugo wagon, if he loved them then thats right for him. IMHO I like the looks of the 3rd gens better but I love my 01

That 3rd gen is in great shape, good luck to you and your new toy.

I love the IROC's. Back before I bought my eclipse I almost got a 85 yellow IROC. But pops didnt want me in a V8. So later down the road I convinced them to let me get a lil old turbo 4cyl. Cant be that fast right...

Yes, that is an awesome IROC on ebay. But no, I didn't kick myself. I was actually after a very "unmolested" example of a IROC w/ a 5.7 liter, and no t-tops. White w/ red interior wasn't actually what I was after, but this car was so stock, it was sick....

Now, I wouldn't be against having this car AND the LS1 powered third gen...heehee

I want to do the molesting......

    Thanks for the comments!

you can't really say "iroc" because from 85 and up, they all look about the same.

I hate red interiors and I dislike the shit on the back window, but its a pretty fucking clean car. The engine bay almost got me hard just from how clean it was. I know its fantastic that its stock, but if it were me (and to be able to do it all over again with my 89 forumula), Id start and finish with every bolt on I could and get the best exhaust available!

Afterwards, I would prolly stop there and wait for something else to soop up.

I'd say clean up the engine a bit, get a few nice mods to make it purr like a kitty, and then save your meat for the new Camaro. If you can get the IROC up to, say, 325 or so hp with an exhaust, some 3.23 gears on the rear, then get sound eliminating material on the inside to eliminate outside noise, with a soft suspension and the smoothest riding tires you can find, and the creme 'de la creme, a couple 12's a couple 10's and 1000 watt amp.

IMO theres no better way if you're not looking for speed. You've already got the big pimpin' interior down though! Hehe, nice IROC man, hope you enjoy that shit.

Me too actually. I graduated in 1985 and wanted an IROC soooo bad, but could not afford it. It was absolutely the sexiest car I had ever seen. I worked my AZZ off until I could buy a new one in 1988......started having kids and that was the end of that!!

    Thanks for the comments!!

Damn how much do they get paid !!??!
Because being a pro-drag racer isn't just about driving. I'm also not talking about the guys that are paid to just drive it like the top series in NHRA.

Most work on their cars as well and part of being a damn good drag racer is building a damn good car.

Lighting rods are the way to go. Powerglide, etc.

Consistency wins drag races not your top pass.
